Well...you're signature says you are using a Spectrum outsourced chemistry class for your high schooler... that looks like using "some sort of program, textbook, book, something" . You obviously have chosen your option because you feel it is beneficial for the student as opposed to winging it without any materials.
I do not think it is a myth that a parent who is not an expert needs to use some sort of materials to facilitate learning. The poster to whom you responded did not say it had to be a textbook. But no materials and pulling it all out of your head - nope, not possible, unless parent is an expert.
Moxie didn't say in the original post that she was going to use "no materials" and pull it all out of her head. She said that they'd be reading science books.
Though personally I would do more than that, it's not like she said they were going to use nothing for science.
And I'm not sure why several people think she said she is going to falsify the transcripts. She didn't say that. She was just asking about how much detail is included on a transcript.

Ok I was really excited about this...but...they wouldn't let me use the 20% off coupon...and big huge bummer-- you have to add an app to open it...it's not just a PDF you can keep with other books..??? Perhaps I am missing something, but I am finding it highly annoying at the moment ...
I understand that you can keep it on your computer just like any other file. It's just not in the pdf format. So you need Kno to view it instead of viewing it with Adobe Reader.

Did she just recently change the name from Language Lessons Through Literature to English Lessons Through Literature? Did anything change other than the name?

I ordered LoF from them in mid Feb. I wrote to them in early March about it and then received the books later in March.
Just FYI, here's part of their explanation as to why the shipments are late:
"We sincerely apologize for the delay in your order.
This was the first time Educents has ever offered Fred books and we did not anticipate Fred's overwhelming popularity! Unfortunately the vendor does not offer shipping options straight from the warehouse to your door, so the Educents team took it upon ourselves to assemble 700+ orders by hand-- that's more than 3,000 books!" -

I have a schedule that has the chapters of the bibles in order, and then has the corresponding chapters in SOTW, MOH, videos, projects, read alouds, readers, and several other resources with each day of the week (for 36 weeks). I have no idea where I got it but I can email you a copy (it's too big to attach here) if you are interested. Just message me and let me know.

Here's the redshift link - http://www.redshift.com/~bonajo/sotwmoh.htm
If you join the MOH Yahoo Group, they have a lot of other schedules with different plans coordinating MOH with SOTW and other programs.

I have the same problem. It's been like this for two days.

I know it's listed as K-6, but what age do you all plan to use it for? The sample looks great.
-
At what age did you start Jot It Dot? I know it's listed as ages 5-8, but does anyone here actually use it with a 5 year old?

There's a simple table of contents in the Preview on Lulu http://www.lulu.com/us/en/shop/andrew-a-campbell/living-memory/paperback/product-4080865.html It doesn't give you much detail though.

...I would like to find something about Rocks to study for elementary age kids. She has been extremely interested in rocks for a few years now.
Here are a few things for rocks:
http://www.parents.com/blogs/homeschool-den/2013/02/11/science/rocks-and-minerals-packet/ (free)
http://www.intellegounitstudies.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_9_10&products_id=15
http://noahsarkhomeschoolacademy.blogspot.com/2012/11/rock-mineral-and-gems-unit-study.html (this one has lots of links)
I haven't used any of them yet, but I saved the links because one of my kids is very interested in rocks too.

A bit OT - I had 3 kids in 3 yrs and everyone is like "whoa, how do you do it". If my math is correct, you had 4 kids in 2 yrs - I would like to personally nominate you for the mother of the century award!!!!
BTW, you probably don't live anywhere near me, but it would have been cool to do it together :)
They are adopted... all four of them are within 19 months total (the youngest three within six months). :)

I'm in a similar situation. My oldest son is 5 1/2 (plus I have three 4-year-olds). We'll be doing Adventures in America for his 1st grade year and then SOTW 1 the following year. I'm trying to do history (as well as everything else but math/phonics) as a group.
-
Are any of you using it with kindergarteners? I am think of using it next year for my kids who will be K/1. Should I wait another year?
-
I love the idea of having all this prepped for me, and the crafts look so cute. I have three 4-year-olds and a 5-year-old. Unfortunately, I don't think I spring $75 a month to get four kits. Maybe I'll just order two or something and split them up.

There are a lot of great free lessons here: http://ministry-to-children.com/lessons/

Math: Math Mammoth
Science: Library books/videos/some experiments

Handwriting: Copywork and workbooks
Extras:
Memoria Press Enrichment
Arts & Crafts from Pinterest
Song School Latin (maybe)

I don't want to hijack your thread, but why did you do BP for just a year and then go away from it?

Question for those that like Circe, etc.
in General Education Discussion Board
Posted
I think maybe some people are talking about integrating many things into literature because that's what some "Circe-ish" bloggers (such as Amongst Lovely Things) and other homeschool moms talk about being one of the keys to simplifying your curriculum and teaching from a state of rest.
For example, on Amongst Lovely Things, integrating into literature is a big part of this post below:
http://www.amongstlovelythings.com/2014/03/simplify-the-curriculum.html
However, on the Circe site, they talk about the importance of integrating in a totally different way. They talk about integrating all teaching in Christ:
http://www.circeinstitute.org/principles-classical-education
I'm guessing that's why there's some confusion about what's being asked and what's being answered.
(Or maybe not :) )
