By far the favorite right now is Berenstain Bears!!!! We love that show around here.
The closer runners- up are Dora, Diego, and Cinderella (on DVD).

I love these ideas ... I need to add the Days of the Week song to my dd's day!!!

Actually, in theory, it's not. It's paying for the general education of the populace who cannot educate their children themselves (either through private school, tutors, or homeschooling) for whatever reason (usually because of a need for both parents to work; perhaps because of a lack of education of the parents). (In theory, of course. Nowadays public school is used by plenty of people who don't really *need* its services.)
I'm all for donating a part of my income to give future American voters a chance to learn to read, who otherwise would not have an education.
If it were not for public schools, I simply would not have gotten an education. Both my parents worked. While PS is not ideal (especially not anymore) it is, in theory, a way to help ensure the voting populace has enough education to rule itself wisely.
Great point. I have never completely thought of it this way - and I like it. Thanks for a great perspective!

For many of us, the local government and state already know we homeschool, so it wouldn't take much for the federal gov't to find out. Besides, I refuse to fear the gov't. Fight it I will if need be, but I refuse to hide.
:iagree:

Thanks for the info!!!! It helps.

... homeschooling other people's kids. I had a conversation with someone close to me about possibly homeschooling their child (long story there - won't go into that now), and I want to know if it's even legal. Where to begin?

I second the JCPenney and the Lane Bryant. Both of those are my favorite, with JCP having a slight edge right now.

Ok ... now I'm hungry! Some of our favorites are
chicken pot pie
grilled tilapia w/ roasted potatoes
taco night
chili
red beans & rice

I want to thank everyone for all the posts on various threads about taking it easy with our little ones. They have really encouraged me to take things slowly. I was worried that she didn't grasp things yesterday as well as I had hoped, but after reading posts last night I decided to take a deep breath and not worry about it. And you know what? This afternoon she started quoting our memory verse of the week on her own! :) I'm so happy. She's now happily cutting and pasting ... and making a number one out of paper ... all on her own (it's free craft time after table time). I'm so happy ... and just wanted to say thanks to all of you who have gone before me. You are truly a blessing!

Oh, this is so up my alley! Can't wait to play! :)

Enjoy! What are you using?
Blessings,

Doing OPGTR, Activities and Bible lessons from MFW-K, and other activities around those ... colors, shapes, etc. Going to go slow! No need to rush things. My main goal this year is to get in a habit of doing school, and to get her reading. She knows her letters and is constantly picking up her books to 'read' them. So, let's try and get her to actually read them! :)

Ok ... it went pretty well today. Realized that 45 minutes is the most we can do at a sitting! (Which is fine, because it covered everything on my plan for today.) She's still excited ... hopefully it will last!

Tomorrow is my dd's first official day of preK. I know it's just the beginning, but I'm really happy that we are going to officially start! I've known for so long that we were going to homeschool. I'm just really happy it's here! She's excited too. In fact, she asked if we could 'do school' after dinner tonight! :)
Here's to tomorrow! Wish us luck.

I also really like "Inside Outside Upside Down". :001_smile:
Me too! Me too! That was one of my absolute favorites!

That makes much more sense! Thanks! :)

Baby wipes are AMAZING!!!! We use them for everything around here.

I am interested in this also. I am considering going back to school for my nursing degree to work nights ... but I am committed to homeschooling more! Let me know how this works for nursing families!

Can you clarify for me something, please ... RS = Rainbow Science? or Rod & Staff? Is there a website for Rainbow Science Math stuff I could look at?

Daily!!! This is addicting! And in a good way! :)

Ok ... I'm a complete newbie here ... officially starting our 1st! preK here we come. However, I've known since the day my dd was born that I was going to homeschool, so I've been preparing all along! Now only have one week left until we officially start! So looking forwar to the journey! :)
