    Woot!

Dh is at the tumbling meet with ds14; he just called to let me know that ds took first place in his floor event 🙂

This kid has a lot of challenges in life, it makes me really happy for him when he is successful at something.

    CONGRATS DS14!!!!  That's awesome.

The girls want me to replace the dishwasher with a cabinet for their cake baking and decorating supplies. The microwave holds ferments. The toaster oven is usually occupied with clay creations.

Ds5 wandered past the dishwasher last week, noticed a button for the first time in his short life, and pressed it. When nothing happened, he shrugged his shoulders and wandered on.

Made me realize that I think it's been broken since shortly after he was born!

It broke over a year ago, maybe even two, can’t remember. We tried to fix it and it was beyond YouTube help. We gave up. Now it sits there taunting me. Actually, I don’t have a single large appliance working at the moment. The only thing that keeps me from being Ma Ingalls is the laundromat.

Our broken dishwasher now holds all the kitchen junk the kids bring home (like plastic sports bottles). They don't want to trash it, so I hide it in hopes of them forgetting about it.

The broken microwave holds cooking supplies.

I am really not sure what we'd do with it all if I ever replaced the appliances.

  4. Happy "Valentine's for People Whose Sitter Is Only Available On Saturday Night" Day!

We are hitting our favorite Mexican restaurant.  It's got great atmosphere, and someone may or may not have mentioned once to the hostess that DH is hard of hearing, so we always get a window seat for two in a quiet corner now. 😁

Beef enchilada with mole sauce for me.  And a pomegranate margarita, salted so that DH won't drink half of it on me.

Yeah, for some reason it took me till five kids to have that sort of perspective. Before, it was “I feel bad, the world must be ending or something. I’m in the depths of despair. Oh nooooooo.....”

Now it’s “oh yeah, cause/effect. Move along, mind the gap.”

Someone (Renai??) needs to put this in the Official Collection of ITT Wisdom (or whatever we are calling it).

He did not open the flue. I don't know why I trust him to do things.

Ha! My sister and her high school boyfriend did this once on a romantic date.  In late June. They called in the fire department because they didn't realize they were supposed to open a flue first. The firemen didn't know what was funnier: not knowing there's a flue, or lighting a fire on a hot June afternoon in an effort to be romantic.   My mom still laughs at her about it.  😆

Hard cider has a distinctive taste but it is very good even if one doesn’t drink much. I love Angry Orchard.

Beat me to it!  We are doing a lot of Angry Orchard lately (Dh brings it home from the leftovers at work parties).  He even likes it, and he rarely likes alcoholic drinks.

    Hey.....It's a Party (5%) Hard Booyah!!!

    My toilet is broken.

And I don't want to tackle fixing it.

    Just.

    Don't.

    Wanna.

That is why our dishwasher has been broken for something like 5 years.  And microwave for going on 1 year, I think.  And duct tape holding food to the door of my fridge, where a shelf used to be.

I have no car advice. I have a 16 year old Sienna with 152,000 miles on it. It’s all scraped up on the sides because our garage bays are so narrow and I have horrible spatial perception. And it lost a hubcap, so it truly looks like an okie-mobile. I am thinking about getting a new car, but DH is hesitant because he doesn’t want me to scrape it all up. I told him he could park and un-park it. Maybe I should get one with smaht pahk.

    FTFY.

Trying rearranging the day / doing things backwards?

Thanks!  I realized after I read this that Dh has not been covering "breakfast" duty during the mornings as he usually does, which means our schedule the past few weeks has been "backwards" (since I have to cook and can't dive right into teaching duties).

So this morning DH went back to making breakfast, and DS12 was able to knock out the toughest subjects with me, first thing.  It did the trick, for today anyway!  I think when his lighter, independent subjects are last, then he's more motivated to get 'em done and reach the finish line. I just hadn't realized how that little breakfast thing the last few weeks was interfering so much with our routine.

  11. DH took the girls to choir and the boys to the gym.  I am relishing the silence after a very long day.

Anyone have suggestions on speeding up a 12 year-old boy who is suddenly doing everything at a snail's pace?  It's like dragging a one-legged zombie through an endless swamp of molasses. I'm assuming it's a symptom of Preteen Syndrome.

So, I’ve been ignoring this thread for years but here for the past week or so I finally delved in. I really need to get back to ignoring y’all again, but now I can’t... ugh.

Hey, DS12 is watching XFL too! I think he's rooting for the Vipers.  No idea why.

I'm reading in bed, with tea, and thinking about taking a nap but thought I'd say hi to ITT first.   So....Hi!

    ETA:  An XFL Booyah!! 🏈

I was just looking at the NextDoor app on my phone.  Someone in my neighborhood linked a YouTube song by a local artist, and I started listening.  It was rap.  My dog decided it was not okay and started barking.  And barking.  And barking.  I turned it off, and she won't stop.  Lesson learned.  No rap for her.

Howdy!!  And congrats!  You got a top-of-the-page Booyah!!
