  1. I never read the book, I just went upon advisement from my pediatrician. Which, later on, I learned to read my kiddos' signs of fullness and usually fed until they were sated. If one breast was more full, they mainly ate from that one, and I pumped the other when they were done. I think it is "momma-specific". Feed 'em till they're done. It's been a few years since I had to think about it! :001_smile:
  2. included in the LA curricula by MCT, which explains the etiology of some words; it's just not very comprehensive. That's what I meant by "supplementing". I think maybe I chose my words incorrectly. I do not think that Latin is an aspect of grammar - I look at it as its own course, a part of her Core Education, which in my mind falls under the umbrella of "Language Arts", which includes vocabulary (both building and understanding), grammar, writing and sentence structure, etc. She currently has a 7th grade vocabulary, according to her PS teacher; I think she's more at a 5th or 6th grade level, so she certainly has the propensity to grasp and understand Latin. Hence the question, though it was probably not worded right, as I mentioned above. I totally concur with you about the need for Latin in school, as it will benefit her when college comes about, as well as in her desire to read everything that comes into our house, especially the classics. I'm sorry if I offended - I think I was mainly trying to bounce some ideas around and see what others thought. :)
  3. I thought I was the only one on here wondering that, since I'm so new. Good to know it wasn't a "silly" question - I tend to worry sometimes about posting if I don't do an exhaustive search first
  4. Well, I'll just have to get busy then, huh? I think this may qualify for #9 - heck, maybe I'll just do 2 and get to 10! :D
  5. How does one attain a "bee" title? I am assuming it is according to the number of posts that one makes... Am I right? Or am I right!
  6. I used both breasts when feeding - only because I wanted to keep my supply up. I think the "standard" (if there IS one) is 5-10 minutes on one, and then switch. You might check on La Leche's web site or ask your pediatrician...hope that helps somewhat. I miss breastfeeding...
  7. I am going to use MCT Grammar Island and all of that; my question is this: should I supplement with one of the Latin curricula that I see on here? I don't know if a) it's even necessary; or b) will the MCT be enough? I am pretty sure I want to push Latin - but would appreciate any input from the "old-timers" (no offense meant!) as to their thoughts. T'anks!
  8. This looks interesting...we're going to use Michael Clay Thompson, only because DD is extremely strong in this course. I did check into this initially, though, and it may be a little more driven to younger ages, it is certainly worth checking into, IMO:001_smile:
  9. New to homeschooling, and am definitely not interested in joining a faith based group. Nothing personal; I just do not share that belief. If there are any secular groups nearby, I would be extremely interested in meeting with you. Thanks! Amy
  10. Yep - I sure did! And I got the response of "I'd rather buy her something she'd enjoy". She enjoys learning!!!
  11. Both of my sisters are adopted, and my DH and his family can't seem to get it through their heads that being adopted does not matter to us: they are my SISTERS. Whenever it comes up, they always throw in something about well, they're not blood though, right? I hate that. I would phone her up and say "hey thanks for the gift! Loved it. However, don't love the note."
