Wayne works well! He must have been a really popular guy.
The rain in Wayne falls mainly on the plain! Yep, that ought to work! Thank you!

Good morning. I told ds that he could have the car today. But it is supposed to rain today. Dd has a cat sitting interview across town thst she was planning to bike to. But now I am wondering if I should have the car for backup. But getting out of three hours of driving would be divine. If it’s just drizzle then I wouldn’t care about letting dd take the bike but the weather forecast talked about high winds. Hmmm
Hmmm indeed. We are trying to guess what the weather is going to do here, today, too. Undoubtedly whichever option we aren't prepared for will happen.

Well, did a quick search on Google Maps and came up with nothing. There was an Ainsworth, Nebraska, but the rhyme is on the wrong syllable.
Thank you for trying. I'm going to keep trying, since there are a LOT of places on the plains.

Hmmm, I need a name for a place, preferably a real place on the Great Plains somewhere, a name that rhymes with "rain".
I bought an untitled water color of rainy weather over a plain. I would like to unofficially title it "the rain in <placename> falls mainly on the plain". : D

You guys can come, though. I'm actually a good cook, but don't expect artistry on the table. I'll clean the house for you, too. :)

I announced the day off over breakfast, but we are staring down showery clouds already. However, the bad stuff isn't supposed to come in until noon, and a few raindrops never hurt a boat. They can hurt a manuscript so we will bring umbrellas.
I'm just barely awake. I had one of those nights when your dreams are so boring you have to wake yourself up to keep from dying.
Here's hopes for a good outing for you all.
Today is Park Day here, but if the weather doesn't cooperate we have plans to go hang out at one Park Day friend's house (just our two families, maybe one other -- not the whole Park Day bunch). Yesterday I took my Dad's deck furniture off of his small deck and moved it into his living room for the weekend, just in case. Possibilities of 70 MPH wind gusts were predicted as this mess comes through, though it is hard to say whether our location will be in the messy part or just south of the messy part.
Either way, DH and I have come up with enough work to keep us busy this weekend. Inside (hopefully) we can shift my stuff from a non-climate-controlled storage unit to a climate-controlled one (to be rented today). Outside we can tote over more stuff from the house and garage to put in my storage unit, and we can trailer up some branches and yard debris to take over to ILs' burn pile. And I want to wash plenty of laundry this weekend, provided the power doesn't go out.
DH is less resistant to the idea of me having a storage unit longer than a few months. He has seen how much time my ongoing Dad Project is taking up and realizes that getting some stuff parked elsewhere for a while will make it easier to deal with other stuff in a more timely fashion. Having the stuff out from underfoot and in-my-face also helps me think a little more clearly, too.

Don't talk about fry bread. Drooling. I love fry bread.
So do I. I really shouldn't have it very often, or have much of it when I do. But FIL makes a good one....

Seems to me I used to have an old recipe for something called Sea Foam--it was a candy of some kind. I don't have the recipe anymore.
If I recall correctly it was like a lighter, fluffier divinity.

Those look hard! I can maybe do the cucumber shark. Or get one of my kids to do it. This one looks easy: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/339669996866298059/
The bell pepper octopi are a quick and easy way to dress up dips or hummus. The veggie palm trees also should be fairly simple. Cucumber shark shouldn't take much time.

I didn't mean for my Pintrest post to be snarky. I am genuinely impressed, and a little intimidated. I didn't know people did things like that.
Many of those are done by professionals, and photographed by professionals. Many people HIRE people to do things like that. The ideas are great, but the execution can be very time-consuming.

Now I understand the reminders that "Real life isn't like Pinterest." Wow! Color me impressed! Those are beautiful.
True. But the fish platters of veggie slices look easy, as do the cucumber critters. Or the dolphin bananas. (dip the cut bananas in lemon water to prevent browning.)

Any ideas for ocean themed book club snacks for adults that don’t involve seafood/meat? I was going to be lame and make fishy shaped cut out cookies, and bring goldfish crackers and maybe a fruit tray but I got partnered with someone who “loves entertaining,” and now I feel pressure to be cool and crafty. These ladies don’t even eat the snacks most times but now they want a party.
I like your idea. If they really want a theme party you could create an activity by supplying the shaped cookies and frosting and decorations so they can decorate their own cookies. Spice gum drops cut into slices could be fish scales.

I get up at 5. I'm thinking of letting them get up and having a longer quiet time in the afternoon. He will probably sleep if I do that.
If a baby eats a phone bill do you still have to pay it? Asking for a friend.
I vote your friend makes a good-faith effort, being sure to note the phone number on the check to get the check credited to the proper account. Include the mangled remains of the portion of the bill that is usually returned with payment, along with a note to the tune of "I'm sorry, but my baby ate my bill. I guessed at the amount -- please have pity and don't turn off my phone."
AFTER taking pictures of the entire bill (or what remains of it), of course. Your friend needs this gold for that child's teenage years. Or for the food-finicky stage, so your friend can say, "Well, you USED to eat anything! I have proof!"

There is a puppy squirming on my (seated) feet. Why she has to squirm and why she chose my feet as the best squirmy spot, we will never know. It feels weird.
Contact with Mom. Squirming increases the points of contact and ensures getting Mom's attention.
She squirms because she loves you so much!

Good morning!
I've been reading, but I haven't had much to say. DH and I had our first marriage counseling session this week (though we've both had individual sessions before this). I think it went rather well, and I'm thankful DH is interested in continuing. Our family dynamics are improving so much. It's a miracle, ya'll, and that's not flippancy.
Please keep Runner in your prayers. His circumcision (can I say circumcision here?) healed with a skin bridge, which is now bothering him, so he's having a procedure done on Tuesday to correct it. I know he'll be fine, but he'll be sedated, and I'm nervous.
How do you clean? Now that my scheduler is finished, my next area of organization is the household. We do okay on clutter, as DH finds organizing to be relaxing, so he regularly sorts and purges for us (though with our input and help, where needed). However, I dislike cleaning, so it only gets done when needed, and I would like to fix that. Not perfectly clean at all times, but a more regular routine, partly for present enjoyment and partly to set positive habits in myself and the kids. So how do you do it? Once a week, or a little every day? Do you have zones, a la Flylady, or just do what needs doing at the time? Triage or maintenance? Do you fly by the seat of your pants, or do you have a schedule and a plan? Do you fit in tasks as you can, or do you schedule in time? Inquiring minds want to know...
Love you, folks. Today is going to be a good day.
Booya on cleaning!
Cleaning around here gets derailed when things get too busy, but there are a few things that I do find helpful and I can manage to keep up much of the time:
- Tidy up your bed every morning. It gives a boost to one's spirits to have that straightened, and sends the message that time spent in the bed is valued. Wash those sheets weekly, if possible, especially during hot times of the year.
- A Flylady thing: Swish & Swipe your bathroom(s) every day. This is simply cleaning the toilet (bowl, seat, base, etc.) and wiping out the sink and surrounding counter. A fresh toilet and clean sink go far towards feeling like your housework isn't that far behind.
- If your washer has a delay wash use it. I can put a load of laundry in at bedtime, set my delay to 8 hours, and the washer runs about the time we are starting to wake up. By the time it's done I am up, showered, and dressed, and I am more likely to get the laundry moved to the dryer and more put in the wash right away. Getting laundry going earlier in the day has helped me get moving on other tasks, too.
- Simplify meals when schedules are tight. The girls and I got home about 7 PM yesterday evening, and DH already had the sausages grilling. Some bagged salad, a declaration that everyone can get their own additional fruits and veggies, and supper was served.
Let us know what you end up trying!
