  1. See? I KNEW that ululating would pay off! Seriously, good job!
  2. Right there with you. Only I won't find out DD13's fall schedule until July. If then.
  3. So did I. I wonder if this year I can get DH to think of and get his own present for his own mother? Perhaps if I start mentioning it now....
  4. I'm not that kick-butty today either. I didn't consider that a NOON phlebotomy would of course have me hungry before we were done. Note to self: eat a snack BEFORE Dad's appointments. You make Dad do it, so you should do it, too. We both got lunch about 1:45 PM. We waited 20 minutes just to get his vitals taken before he could start his phlebotomy. No one told the nurse taking vitals that Dad was just there for a phlebotomy, and not to see the doctor of the day. As soon as she found out she brought Dad straight back and took his vitals immediately. Dad has bandages on his arms that are to stay put until 5:30 this evening. After I fed him and took him for a haircut I took him home and told him I will come back this evening to take the things off his arms. I can do that while DD13 is Aikidoing.
  5. Be sure and check if any chemistry equipment is outlawed by your state. For instance, for some reason Erlenmeyer flasks are not legal in Texas.
  6. We will all ululate impressively in the background while you make your calls. People will fall at your feet in awe!
  7. So, I have a decision to make. (Granted, not that important. Just worrying over details because I'm getting caught in that rut now.) A couple weeks ago I booked myself a new patient appointment with a primary care doctor in the same building as my endocrinologist. I needed to talk to the office at my endo and this other doctor had a poster out in the hallway advertising that she was a primary care doctor accepting new patients, AND I didn't have a primary care doc and need one, so I walked down the hall and booked myself an appointment for a week from tomorrow. I know nothing about her beyond what was on that poster, and I'm sure she's a good doctor. It occurred to me that I COULD instead call up the old clinic where I was once a patient of an internal medicine doctor who served as my PCP at the time. He's no longer practicing, but they have other doctors I could get in with. It's a good clinic, and Dad's new PCP is over there. The old clinic still has my medical files, so going with them automatically has whichever doctor I sign up with there already in the loop. However, it would be a simple thing to have the doctor I already have an appointment with get a copy of my records from that clinic, and there are other doctors with records on me (GYN, endo, ENT, sports medicine, dermatologist, urgent care, etc.) so no matter who I go with they will be collecting records from various doctors. So, what do y'all think? Stick with the doctor I already made an appointment with, who is in the same building I visit at least 3-4 times a year anyway, or get in with someone at the old clinic?
  8. It is another phlebotomy day with Dad today. After the phlebotomy I will take him to lunch again, and after lunch, if he is up to it, I might try taking him for a haircut. Then I take him home and get home in time to take DD13 to Aikido, and hopefully DH will be home from his offsite stuff in time to take DD13 home after Aikido so I can go to yoga. Round and round the wonder AMJ goes.... Rather like Lynn, huh?
  9. Yeah, I have noticed that some days and times noises are just more insistent, less able to be ignored or filtered out. ((Critter))
  10. You are a wonderful example to us all of courage and careful thought. Thank you for sharing this process -- it helps us see HOW we can do similarly, if we need to.
  11. Likety and ((Junie)) My pharmacy switched my regular prescriptions over to 90-day refills when I inquired about that this evening. They discovered doing so would drop the copay on all but one of this bunch to $0! And the one that didn't drop was Levothyroxine and didn't cost much.
  12. (((Prairie))) She can borrow my cat. My cat will hunt those meeces!
  13. DD16 and I went for a bit of a walk together, then we set the canopy swing back up and sat swinging and talking for a bit. It was nice. I got to listen to her latest ideas on the direction she would like her life to take, and what would be needed in the rest of high school and in college in order to pursue that path. She also said she would be my walking buddy, and help me get meals planned and cooked.
  14. You sound like they left some cotton in. Foo-eeahh!
  15. I have a couple of these, and they help: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S8OUCVW/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Basically when I wake up hot I peel back the covers, go use the toilet (to give the bedding a chance to lose some heat), then I put one chill pad on my pillow and one along where my spine will be and I get back to bed. After an hour or two they start to warm up from my body heat, but I just rouse enough to pull them out of the bed and drop them on the floor, and I usually am cooled enough to drop back to sleep.
  16. I might be able to peel the facing off of the plaques themselves. The desktop ornaments are plastic with slogans and logos and the like poured inside. I'll see if DH or Aikido want any for anything, and trash stuff otherwise. Thanks. Part of me still gets the guilt for throwing stuff like that away.
  17. I have some old plaques and desktop clutter (stand-up plaque-like thingies spouting company values or slogans and the like) from my time years ago working for a corporation. These things are essentially meaningless; they won't help me in the future if I wanted to return to work and they aren't things I want to have decorating my home. What does one do with such things? Just chuck them into the trash?
  18. I agree, follow Yo Yo Ma's example and play it slower. When auditioning playing well is much preferred over playing fast. Unless it's a NASCAR audition. And even then it is still better to play well.
  19. Aristotle would be envious about your hairline and full follicular scalp coverage.
  20. Yeah, I can't be trusted around the Cherry Coke Tic-Tacs. They are just too yummy to me (even though I am not fond of the beverage itself).
