  1. I have taken to adding OxyClean to the soap when doing Dad's laundry. It helps, as does doing his laundry as soon as I get it home. I have also been making him turn over ANY clothing he has worn between my visits. I even made him change pants yesterday morning, because he was re-wearing trousers.
  2. Not Whole30ing. I had just picked one up from the grocery store the day before and didn't get it eaten the same day, so I ate it for breakfast the next morning. It made a wonderful breakfast prior to running Dad to a medical appointment. I want more. Much to my dismay I have to severely limit my intake of cruciferous veggies now. DH figured out my bouts of GI distress were from eating more than a normal kid-sized serving of such veggies at a time. Wah. I like cruciferous veggies!
  3. DD13's hulless popcorn came in yesterday, so now she can have popcorn, too, again.
  4. Hugs to Bookie & family, and bees, and for fires and hurts and sadnesses and anyone else for any other reason! #stillcatchingup #reallyneedthathugemoji
  5. (Psst: Go edit your location in your profile. Please add a colon and a space in front of your location. Ikslo will thank you!)
  6. There's a lot of Texas to look through. Have you looked closer to some major cities? How about along U.S. Highway 287? A lot of that is ranch land, but there are cities along it that also have some industry or another. And there are manufacturing jobs in the Houston region. *wink wink nudge nudge*
  7. I can't speak to Midland specifically (not familiar with it), but cost of living is certainly better in Texas than many other states, pay is a bit better, and homeschooling pretty much just requires you cover a certain 5 subjects. And you will be closer to a lot of us! And there's no state income tax. Much as I loved Colorado and Minnesota, we are much better off here. SE Texas has high heat, high humidity, and mosquitoes galore, and seldom ever gets any snow at all. Northcentral Texas (Dallas/Ft. Worth area) gets some pretty impressive plains storms and gets some snow most winters, but not a lot. The Hill Country gets some relief from the heat at times and is really pretty, so it gets a lot of tourists. It also has a lot of cedar, which I am apparently allergic to. Anyplace one might want to live has its challenges, so shop around and pick. Former work acquaintances who had lived in Midland didn't seem to mind it. I hope whatever you folks decide your DH manages to get a good job that meets the family's needs and he can be satisfied with.
  8. Still a lot of catch-up to do. My cat isn't helping. After NOT coming in last night when called she is in now, and decided to hop into my chair just as I reached the point of no return on sitting in said chair. Now she's mad because I sat on her. GOOOOOD MORNING, ITT!
  9. Saturday evening DD16 and a friend attended the homeschool prom with me as accompanying adult who took pictures and drove. Friend spent the night afterwards. Sunday I was a bit noised out and DH wanted to watch some shows without headphones on, which he more than earned, so after I ran to Kohl's to spend Dad's Kohl's Cash on more trousers for him and after I made a grocery run I hung out upstairs reading. It was nice to take a half-day off of ALL responsibilities. DD16 and DH made a spaghetti & meatball supper. Today I take Dad to a phlebotomy appointment, then to lunch afterwards. I called him before breakfast to recommend he wear a short-sleeved shirt and a jacket for warmth today (cool here). I'm pack-muling in more water bottles for him when I go. My plans for supper tonight are salmon. I have reinstalled a pedometer app on my phone and discovered just my morning routine resulted in about 800 steps. That's from showering, dressing, waking girls, doing laundry, and getting my breakfast, and I spot-checked the step count for accuracy, so I'm fairly confident of its accuracy. I'm curious how many steps taking Dad out and about will add. If I can remember long enough I hope to get by the storage unit place today. I really want to switch over to climate-controlled and get more stuff out of the garage and house. It's going to be a while before I can get to those boxes, and I want them out of the way so it will be easier to deal with other stuff that must come first. I am declaring this week and next independent work days for the girls, just like the last two weeks. Dad has two medical appointments per week these weeks, and I have to feed him afterwards on all of them. I don't mind doing this for Dad, but it really sucks up the time. I am still catching up in the thread for the posts since Friday. I'll keep catching up as I can. Hugs to everyone for everything, and cheers and applause, too, for attempts and accomplishments!
  10. My breakfast today has been a tuna poke salad with zoodles, a salad I bought yesterday at the grocery store. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm....
  11. When I was in junior high my parents left it up to the 8th grade health class. I was blind-sided in human reproduction, to the class's immense amusement.
  12. We had friends over. It has been a very good afternoon!
  13. I hope so, too. How did it go? Did the noise make your head ache more?
  14. Limon'? Thorne? Meyer? Bud? Limonero? Citro? Lemony?
  15. Good morning! Yesterday I took Dad to a local branch of a bank and we got bank accounts set up for him. This morning Dad's tax accountant called to discuss Dad's taxes, and I was able to give him the new routing number for direct depositing Dad's tax return. Serendipitous timing!
