@bridget We are doing it in ONE year.There are a few selections, at least 6 I can think of off the top of my head, that we skipped but still had him read the chapter in the textbook. We only assign a little writing. He sits down with his father and goes over everything orally which sparks awesome conversations and in depth study.He looks at how many weeks he has for a particular book and divides up the book by the number of days. As he reads he does the questions that correspond by jotting down answers on index cards so he can discuss the answers with his father. He just writes enough to spark his memory and know where to go to get the answer when they sit down to discuss. It is easier to spread a book over 7 or 14 days than the small number of days the text suggests. I hope this helps. Jennifer

From everything I have read from your posts Omnibus seems a perfect fit. I don't make up any lesson plans. My son reads the text chapter for the next book he is going to read then reads the book over the specified period of time. We meet and go over questions orally and assign an occasional writing assignment which are included. The number of conversations sparked have been too many to count! Jen

I can't say enough about omnibus. This is our first year using it with our 9th grader. He is doing omnibus 3. We will definitely be staying with it. I will be starting my other son in book 1 next . It is a lot but it counts as a credit of Literature, a credit of History and a credit of Theology (an elective). I don't see how you could do a book over 2 years and give proper high school credit. What we love is that by reading the chapter in the textbook before reading the actual book they have such a wonderful understanding so the reading is easier. I found no reason to print off of the cd. I would put it in our laptop and read off there. The answers they give for all the questions allow you to have a meaningful conversation without having read the book. Jennifer
