We are doing it in ONE year. There are a few selections, at least 6 I can think of off the top of my head, that we skipped but still had him read the chapter in the textbook. We only assign a little writing. He sits down with his father and goes over everything orally which sparks awesome conversations and in depth study. He looks at how many weeks he has for a particular book and divides up the book by the number of days. As he reads he does the questions that correspond by jotting down answers on index cards so he can discuss the answers with his father. He just writes enough to spark his memory and know where to go to get the answer when they sit down to discuss. It is easier to spread a book over 7 or 14 days than the small number of days the text suggests. I hope this helps.
