  1. We always stay at the Desert Inn & Suites, which is about as short of a walk as you can get. I always hated having to fold up a big stroller to get on a shuttle too, so walking was much easier. This hotel has always been clean and very reasonably priced.

  2. If you have an AG store near you, you can just buy one boy bitty twin alone. If you call AG directly they may be willing to just sell you one too.

I didn't know that. When I needed just one, I went ahead and ordered the set (one boy and one girl), and then sold the girl doll on eBay. The boy doll ended up costing me less than half the price of the set of two dolls.

  3. I bought a smaller Kitchen Aid food processor, and less than a year after I bought it, the top broke. I could only use it by holding it shut and pulling a safety lever. Luckily, we'd bought it at Costco and so we were able to return it. I bought a full sized Cuisinart to replace it. I like it much better! And if it lasts 23 years, I'll be thrilled!

  4. Only if the teeth were really bad and the gums inflamed. Our 7-yr-old Lab gets a major dental chewie twice a week, and twice a day after his dry dog food a handful of different dental "croutons". Both were recommended by our vet to help avoid the need for teeth cleaning. She has our cats on the kitty version, too.

Are these products you can buy over-the-counter? If so, I'd love to know what they are!

  5.

Thanks so much! I'd been eyeing this too, but I wasn't sure how much dairy was in the vegetarian plan. (We eat vegan.) With this deal, I figured it was worth a try! So far it looks great, and I'm about to run to the store for my 20 ingredients for the week, instead of spending hours coming up with a menu and grocery list! :001_smile:

  6. We are using this book this year also, and it is working very well so far. It just makes more sense to my kids than other things we have tried!

My DD (9 - last year) despised Rosetta Stone! BUT - this year I switched her to the below link and she loves it! There is also a Latin program by the same author. We started 4 weeks ago and her retention has been outstanding! We do 1 lesson a day. Short lessons, easy to review, and not overwhelming. I am even learning! :tongue_smilie:

You can see inside the book on Amazon.

    Hope this helps.

  7. We got a puppy a few weeks ago. It has been 14 years since we got our last puppy, so I know what you mean about forgeting what to do! This is my favorite puppy book:

I had been holding on to it for years, just waiting for our next puppy, and I recently lent it to a friend who got a puppy. Of course, we then got a puppy, rather unexpectedly, and I needed that book! I bought it the first night as a Kindle download.

Our puppy had to be taken out at night for the first week, but since then he's slept through the night in his crate. When we're not home, he's in his crate. When we are home, he's either being watched by *me*, on a leash next to me, or in a larger pen in the kitchen.

Good luck with your beagles! My very first puppy was a beagle. I can't think of anything cuter than a beagle puppy (except maybe two)!

  8. This looks like fun! Thanks for posting it.

I don't have a soda stream, but we do make our own soda if anyone is interested. It's easy and cheap. I start with a basic ginger ale recipe:

    2 liters cold water

    2 tb. grated ginger

1/2 to 1 cup sugar (half cup isn't really sweet at all, 1 cup is mildly sweet but not as sweet as storebought soda)

    1/8 tsp. dry yeast.

Mix it all in a plastic 2 liter bottle (has to be plastic in case you forget and the mixture explodes -- glass is too dangerous). Cap tightly and shake. Store at room temp for two days then refrigerate immediately. If you don't, it will blow up! I stick it in the fridge after one day during the summer because we don't have a/c. I've never had a bottle blow, but if you're worried keep them in a plastic tub while they are brewing.

These are very carbonated, so open slowly over a sink. I pour the soda through a cup-sized strainer because I don't like ginger in my soda, but DH likes to leave the ginger in it.

We also mix it half-and-half with fruit juices and fruit simple syrups. I use the low-sugar version for mixing. You have to have some sort of sugar in it for the yeast to feed on, otherwise you won't get any carbonation.

It takes me five minutes to whip up a bottle. I do it every evening or two after dinner so we always have three bottles in rotation. I grate a whole ginger root at once and keep it frozen. I break off a chunk as I need it.
