I think the implication by others was that if the non-consensual twerking or faux humping became something more egregious. Then it would be lawsuit time. And the environment is potentially conducive to more happening with no one stepping in.

It's amazing how if the exact same thing happened at work or the ymca or public pool or church camp, no one would think this needed discussion.
They'd call the cops or someone would be fired/expelled or whatever.
But the minute it happens in a public school - oh well that's different.

If being twerked on from behind or mounted is non-consensual, it's a battery in about 50 states.
The problem is the going along with it...while it may appear to be consensual, it could actually be just fear of worse reprisals for speaking out against it.

MegP I would imagine there is some general language in a student handbook where this conduct would fall under as prohibited. But it appears that in reality it's known by the parents at least. Not sure about the administration and coaches.

Bolt, I disagree with some of your assumptions in the OP and many of the premises underlying your own assertions. Just saying that because I don't want silence to indicate consent or agreement to your positions.

The concern is that some of the "consensual" behavior may not actually be. Someone above said something like silence is consent. And if one does say something they may be targeted by bullies. Some the guys being tweaked on or mounted may not be consenting, just afraid to speak up. It really seems like an atmosphere conducive to hazing, which is usually illegal.

Please don't quote me as I'll be removing this most likely. Boys will be boys and yadaydada. But I didn't realize how much things have changed. Boys are talking about how they are going to "mount" girls and then demonstrating on each other with only their underwear on or less in the boys high school locker room. There are varsity guys doing this but 9th graders are in there, some wide eyed as you might suspect. Also twerking, naked, much of the time.
This would not be ok for my son. He's used to occasional foul language and off color stuff from playing other sports at non-public schools, but there seem to be no boundaries here.
It's objectifying the girls they go to school with and in demonstrating on each other, it's veering toward homo-eroticism. Neither are okay with my son.
I know there are only a couple other kids in there that are not ok with this. Nothing is being done or said though. If it was a workplace, this would be a place of intimidation and sexual harassment. But I know it's not and those standards don't apply.
Thoughts?

If your local high school has students take the SAT in the spring as part of the SAT School Day, do they also offer it in the fall?

Also I realize there's a big difference between slow and fast pitch. Is it really hard is it to get used to?

Our daughter is thinking of going out for the high school softball team for her senior year next year. She's not played on a team before, but is a varsity athlete in another sport and has played softball informally with the family for a long time. The school is small, so I think she'd get on the team ok.
What types of training would the team do to get ready for the next season? She'd like to get herself as ready as possible.
Any tips and pointers welcome!

I know that BYU Independant Study courses in high school can not count toward eligibility for NCAA athletics.
What if a student takes them as "extras" i.e. the course and the credits are not needed to graduate? This doesn't DISqualify the student athlete, correct?

My son was all set to take the SAT last week at his high school and got very sick the night before. One teacher mentioned a possible makeup date, but I haven't been able to ge this confirmed from the administration. Do high schools that offer the SAT through their schools during the week ever offer such makeup dates?
If we are going to do it on our own, I think Friday is the last day to register for the next one.

My son has had a pretty thorough immersion in Civics over his high school career, but he never took a specified course Civics. He'd like to take an Intro to American Politics at the local junior college. Would the substance of this course be enough in overlap to fulfill a high school civics course?

Yes I'm going to find out today. I suppose if he misses this test bc the school didn't register him, he gets an extra couple of weeks to study and he'll have to take the test without the school in May.
Also I need to come up with a photo ID.

One of our sons is expressing interest in a Catholic college, Aquinas in Michigan. We are not Catholic and I'd like input on how this might work out. The academic major and athletic program seem like they would work well for him.
He is a Christian btw,~Protestant. Seems like this college has roots with Dominican nuns order, fwiw.

Did your child get an admission ticket for this? We haven't received one (and collegeboard mentions this) and can't see his registration on the site. They may not have totally registered him.

Yes that's our situation too Melissa, just PT enrollment at the local public h.s.
And AZ homeschool mom, I appreciate you addressing the potential pushback. I can see why it's important for the school. Although here it is a pure public school, so I'm not sure if they care if their one homeschooler misses a test.
They've been really great with us though, so I don't want to change that.
