  1. I am in a co-op that has used both together this year. We have found it a bit disjointed in how they come together, but it seems they may be integrating it more next year. Some of our families did the whole thing, some did just CCM, and some just showed up on co-op day and did their thing outside of co-op. They have continued to Improve the website as the year has gone along so I imagine it's only going to get better. That said, we probably aren't going to use it next year. We had developed our own CCM-inspired curriculum for the previous 2 years and were too burnt out to consider developing it for this year. Next year we'll be going back to what we did 3 years ago for memory work and adding the CCM science (which we think is very well done). Happy to answer any more questions if I can.
  2. We use elements of CC Memory in our co-op. We spend 2 weeks on each unit. Last year we mostly reviewed memory work during morning snack time and listened to the CD in the car. So we spent 15-20 minutes 3-4 times a week plus co-op day. My sons were 5 and 3 so I couldn't do much in the way of reading and writing. With an 11 year old, you could do much more using it as copy work and such. Include the 3 year old too - it's amazing how much they can pick up just by being around. we're musically inclined and found it easier to learn the Latin by singing the chants. Doing it with a co-op is easier than I imagine it would be to do it by yourself at home. Even if you had one other family to meet with once very 2 weeks to present the materials together , that would be nice. Otherwise, if by yourself, it might work to make a schedule for yourself - I.e. Monday: Latin and Catechesis, Tuesday: math and poetry, Wednesday: Science and history, etc. Present everything one week and have much of it posted on the walls or in a binder for review. Then spend the 2nd week reviewing everything. Just some ideas. I think it's a wonderful collection of memory work!
  3. I can see what you mean about PAL including more grammar that's involved in the writing process. I guess I need to learn a little more about the teaching of grammar to see what the different options and philosophies are. FLL does seem extremely thorough. Thanks for the other suggestions of what to use. I'm glad to hear your 3.5 yo likes it. I'm thinking my 4yo will really enjoy the games with PAL Reading. He knows all his letter sounds and is beginning to read CVC words, but I don't want to overload him with too much overtly academic stuff at 4. There will be plenty of time for that!

  5. We've had success with: Freefall Spelling Harold and the Purple Crayon Lakeshore Learning's Letter of the Day and Sound Sorting Montessori Intro to Letters Teach Me Toddler Also there are some very well done Dr. Suess books done by Oceanhouse Media Enjoy!
  6. My first post.....though I've read MANY very helpful posts. Thank you to everyone who shares on here! I can't find an answer to this question, however. I'm looking at curriculum for my 6 year old who will be in 1st grade next year and is reading very well (learned via 100 EZ). We're also about halfway through AAS, Level 1. I"m very intrigued by the Primary Arts of Language curriculum, though I was planning to begin FLL next year. My question is, if I do PAL, does it replace FLL or would I do it as well? I've taken a look at PAL writing and it seems FLL would be redundant, but I want to make sure I'm not missing something. I would probably also start my 4 1/2 yo on PAL Reading. Our co-op is going to begin the IEW with 3rd/4th graders so it would be great to get him on the path towards that. Thanks for your help!
