  1. I like these levels of Sonlight as well but was wondering if SL 1 would be too simple for a 3rd grader and definitely for a 6th grader. KWIM?
  2. Thank you so much for this very frank review. What grades are you teaching in your co-op? And do you feel the same about MUS for the primary grades? Thanks, Mindy.
  3. Thanks for your reply. Honestly, I'm not sure I'm up for learning a new curriculum at this point. I know how to do SOTW, TOG, and Sonlight. Learning something new sounds tiring. :001_unsure: But I'll click over and take a look at it.
  4. I've thought about this. The only down-side to doing this is that some weeks cover multiple chapter of SOTW and I'd rather not zoom through it. I think TOG 1 also covers a great time period of history than SOTW 1. In fact, SOTW II may also be used with year 1 of TOG. I need to go back and check.
  5. I'd love some input with this decision. I'm a veteran TOG user but have enrolled my oldest two in the Tapestry LLC classes for history next year. I'm feeling a little freedom to branch out for my 3rd grader. Honestly, I'm feeling tired and am looking for something simple. Yet, I don't want to sacrifice richness for simplicity. Any thoughts? (I should also mention that I'll have a 6th grader too. I don't factor her into the decision as much, though, because she struggles in every subject.) Thank you in advance.
  6. Yep, have it and love it. No problems whatsoever. :001_smile:
  7. Just as clarification, St. Joseph is the patron saint of families and home life. Therefore, many Catholics ask for his prayers when they are selling their homes. (I realize this last statement touches on the Catholic practice of asking dead people to pray for them and that's another dicussion altogether! :tongue_smilie:) I just wanted to elaborate a tad since it really isn't meant to be a good luck charm. Although I can see why it could be interpreted that way to a non-Catholic. How cool that you found one buried in your yard! I don't think there's anything wrong with digging it up.
  8. You know, I don't think they sell the add-on set anymore....just complete sets. At least I think that's what I overheard at the HEAV convention.
  9. Now that's a good idea. i hadn't thought of that. Thanks!
  10. Thank you. That's really what I wanted to hear. ;)
  11. If I have two daughters doing MUS (delta and gamma), do I really need two sets of manipulatives??
  12. Has anyone used MUS through highschool? If so, could you give me a review?
  13. I'm almost ready to switch to MUS but I have one hesitation. Should I be concerned that, since they mostly focus on one operation per year, it would negatively affect my daughter's performance on the standardized testing we do each spring. (We test for the state of Virginia.) Thanks for any help!
  14. I'm glad to know we're free to post the priority codes. Thank you!:001_smile:
  15. OK, maybe I goofed. They sent me an email. I guess it's not a public sale? So sorry!
  16. Oh, I see. I've used Planner Pads in the past and love them. I was afraid you had heard something bad about the company. :001_huh: Glad that's not the case! I think they could be really useful for a reluctant planner because they really break down the steps of planning: 1. Decide what you need to do for the week. 2. Put those things into categories. 3. Then schedule them into time slots. They also come with an audio cassette that guides you through the steps. I only wish they were prettier!:D
  17. Barb, Not to hijack but what response did you read about Planner Pads? I was considering getting those for my dd's.
  18. Josie, Thanks so much for breaking it down for me! That really helps.
