  1. Thanks for the replies! Yes he's college bound, he wants to go into art. He's not extremely advanced or anything, but in our state the cut off date is Dec 1st and he was in Private school for K which had a different cut off date. I didn't think anything of it until he brought it up. He mostly wants it so he can take CC classes (which you can't do as a 9th grader) and because almost all his friends are in 9th grade this year. This year was the first year he didn't do a foreign language he'll take them at CC.
  2. We used a couple Progeny Press Guides last year for 2nd grade, next year (for a different kiddo) I'm thinking we'll use Sonlight Readers or just letting him practice reading.
  3. We've tried it. It doesn't work for us, I wish it did though! My kids don't want to do all of one subject in one day, especially my wiggly 7 year old boy. ;) It would also work better with different curricula then we use. We do rotate some subjects like different aspects of LA (grammar, writing, spelling) and different electives (art, music, health, etc).
  4. We're using Elemental Science Earth Science & Astronomy this year with my 3rd grader and really enjoying it! :001_smile:
  5. I'll check them out! Thanks for the review! I'm always looking for something to keep my 5 year old busy! ;)
  6. In the fall we couldn't decide if we should bump my 14 year old son to 9th grade this year and have him "skip" 8th grade, his Birthday is in October and we had to hold him back in Private School K (which had a different cut off date then our state). So we started the year with the possiblity of it counting as his freshman year. We are thinking it will count as his freshman year, for various reason (mostly so he can start CC in the fall). So this is what credits he has from this year.. American History (1)- We used Oak Meadow Highschool American History American Literature (1)- Lightning Literature, A writing class in Co-op and Daily Grams Algebra 1 (1)- We used Saxon Earth Science & Astronomy (1)- We used BJU online 8th grade science text, we also used Teaching Company videos. I think that should be okay, the PS doesn't take Biology until 10th either and he'll be taking it at CC. Bible Survey (.5 or 1?)- The Most Important Thing You'll ever Study Bible Survey Geography through Art (.5)- We used the curriculum Geography through Art, he spent a lot of time on it so I think it deserves half a credit Health (.5)- With Landry Academy Intro to Drawing (.5)- Co-op Class and other various materials Photography (.5)- Oak Meadow with a Co-op Class/Club Does this look okay to count as his Freshman year?
