    My teen has been using a salicylic acid cleaner so far. I would like to try the milk cleanser option. Do you make it at home or is there a brand name that I should look for? Thank you!

    I have begun sprouting to add diversity. I sprout a lot of beans and lentils before cooking them. I also make broccoli sprouts, sunflower seed sprouts etc.

    We evolved eating hundreds of different plant foods and now the recommended advice is to eat 30 different plant foods each week.
    We're meant to eat as much variety as we can afford, I guess.

    Any tips on how to improve nutrition to eliminate acne? I have a teen too with this problem and I am willing to give it a go. He does eat a salad every day for one meal and no added sugars in anything but has very oily skin and sweats a lot.

    Thank you. I am asking because my son would like to get a bird as a pet. We don’t want any PTFE and would prefer an all-stainless interior air fryer if those are available. I could possibly email their customer support to ask for the specifics.

  8. Two things to be aware of:

    - as already stated in this thread, imbalance of the gut bacteria with the good probiotic bacteria being overtaken by other microbes (yeast). This can happen even if you don't take any antibiotics, just a high level of stress is enough to trigger it.

    - mistaking thirst for sugar cravings, also happens if you are dehydrated. The brain does not easily distinguish between the two. Try drinking a glass of water when you have sugar cravings to see if it helps.

    I always hear conflicting advice on rinsing rice (do it, don’t do it. Keep the starch, remove the starch). 

    Brown rice has higher quantities of arsenic than the white rice because the bran and outer coating harbors most of it. So, especially with brown rice, you are better off soaking, discarding the soaked water and rinsing  several times before cooking.

    Maybe I just think they should be more transparent so we could be more able to try to protect ourselves. I guess people didn't advertise getting the flu or strep in the past. Or did they? 

    A lot of people around me, who are normally very cautious, went for Summer Vacations, family reunions, graduations etc and gave up masking because of the hot weather outdoors and got Covid. There is liberal work-from-home policy here and all of them openly say that they have Covid and are staying home for a couple of weeks. In fact, I was able to direct a couple of them to get Paxlovid as soon as I heard about it, thanks to the information on this forum. Most of them did not know about the existence of this drug and that certain preexisting conditions makes them eligible for treatment.

  11. I have taken root suckers from olive trees and roses and grown them successfully. Take the root sucker by digging out as much of the roots that you can, wrap the roots in wet paper towels and enclose the root part inside a plastic bag or ziplock bag. 6-12 inch long suckers will do. Take a few of them. Don’t let the paper towels dry out. Don’t let the plants be exposed to the heat. If you can get rooting hormone from a nursery, rinse the roots and apply as per instructions. Pot in a 4 inch container with loose, well draining potting soil and water regularly. When you see new growth, you can move it to the sunlight.

    When you make the smoothies for the road trip, I suggest using coconut milk instead of dairy products to avoid separation after a few hours. I find that the consistency is best with it. If you cannot have coconut milk, other plant based milks like oat, almond, soy etc also don't separate in the smoothie after a few hours, though it is no big deal and you could shake the bottle vigorously if that happens!

    Avoid spinach, kale, bananas and apples as they become brown with oxidation. Use all frozen fruit and veggies for best effect. If you are fancy, you could buy smoothie lids for your mason jars 🙂

  13. Burritos! I customize them as per each person's preference and they can be made as large or as small as needed.

    I make smoothies with frozen fruit and put them in individual mason jars and inside a cooler to have with the main meal and they stay fresh and cold for 5-6 hours if you ensure that you don't add fruit or veggies that oxidize with exposure. Our favorites are combos of orange/mango/acai berry/carrot/blueberry/strawberry.

    Others have suggested good options to look into. In addition, for the above, it could be due to bad gut bacteria overtaking the probiotic bacteria in her body. She could intentionally add naturally fermented foods with probiotics and a commercial probiotic supplement to her diet for a few months to see if they make these symptoms manageable.

    $1 million? I would not personally do that job for anything lesser! All kidding aside, your DD’s should find other jobs to do elsewhere. They will be attacked no matter how well they do the job. Just let your mom hire a professional cleaning service.

    Thanks! I am going to make a superset of the 2 recipes, add dried basil to it as @Rosie_0801 remembers from her recipe book and see how it goes. It sounds delicious already!

    I have been living through this for a few years now. I wear black pants for these occasions because of how I am at the mercy of my periods. I only buy the overnight pads because they are the safest to wear and I too carry a change of clothes and plan my trips outside to be less than one hour long and totally avoid going out if possible in those times.

    OP, I am told that perimenopause symptoms are wide ranging and that they could change from year to year as well.

    I found a berbere recipe by googling. Do you think that this one looks similar to your recipe? I could add dry basil to this recipe and see how it tastes!

    Another question: the “chili” powder in this recipe is something like plain cayenne powder, right? Because in the US, “chili” powder is colloquially a spice blend rather than plain red pepper powder.
