  1. We had a similar problem. Only in our case it was a telemarketer who was calling for this phone number's previous owner. As soon as I started to say "They don't live here" or "Please take me off the list." he would hang up.

After nearly a month of calls and him hanging up before I could finish my senetence, I blew a referee's whistle LOUDLY into the phone. I never heard from him again. :)

In your case, I'd document calling the manager, and send him a certified letter documenting the frequency of their calls, requesting that the calls stop, and that if they don't you will consider this harassment. Give them a couple days, and then the next time a telemarketer calls, use an air horn or a whistle.

  2. I watched it this week, and did not like it.

If you've never seen another version, it would probably be okay, but it's sort of like comparing the new P&P with the old P&P. The new version is rushed, with lots of the story missing from the shortened movie. The older P&P was more faithful to the book and characters, but was loooooonger.

There IS another version of Mansfield Park out there. If you love the book, I'd recommend that one.

  3. What? I'm sure others have pointed out that you ARE paying taxes. You just *overpay* during the year and get some sent back to you.

If you're tired of getting a refuned each spring, figure out how much you're overpaying, divide it by 12, and take that # to the HR person at work and ask them to help you figure out the corect number of withholdings. (For example, if you're overpaying $300 per month, ask Mr. HR how many exemptions do you need to claim in order to keep $300 per month in your paycheck.)

  4. My son (12) doesn't mind hugs (still asks for them occasionally as well). He'll hold my hand in stores sometimes.

But if I try to be huggy at church or in front of friends, he gets embarrassed. Thankfullyy he's articulate enough to tell me that nicely. :)

I think if he were more prickly, it'd be important to keep showing the affection. Boys need it, even if they don't know it. :)

  5. I've tried googling over and over and come up with nothing.

I remember reading a poem years ago, written from the perspective of a parent. It was about 4 stanzas, and expressed how the author loved watching her little boy read his Bible, and the importance of him learning that love from his parents' examples. The title was something simple, like "A Boy and His Bible"

    Does this ring any bells?
