  1. Fascinating how many of us are one of a kind! I have a rare first name, and an even rarer last name—less than 122 in the US, according to the site. I am still one of a kind with my maiden name which is far more common—35,000 or so.

All my family members with the same last name are one of a kinds also, not surprisingly.

Edit— I also had 2 *male* relatives with the first name “June”. 1 by marriage on mother’s side and a great uncle on my father’s side. According to How Many of Me site, over 99.9% of people with the first name “June” are female.

  2. The duration of symptoms is why I would be comfortable waiting for a next day appointment. I have sat in the ER many many times with my mother and MIL for heart issues, including a complete heart block with Mom. If my symptoms were as OP described, I would not go to the ER. YMMV and all that.

I also wouldn’t touch the exercise question with a ten foot pole lol. Not a doctor, don’t play one on TV, and all that.

    bread dressing

mashed potatoes and gravy (made with stock from roasted turkey wings, necks and spine in addition to pan drippings)

    sweet potato soufflé

    brocolli rice casserole

    macaroni and cheese

    green been casserole

    Asparagus with lemon vinaigrette

    Home made yeast rolls

    apple pie

    2 cheesecakes

It gets a little crazier every year lol. I am not a fast cook, and just doing the dishes for all that takes a mountain of time

  4. Oh yes!

    https://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/12/Macaroni-Cheese-For-100103784.shtml

I’ve scaled it (enter the number of servings you want and it does it for you) for 75, 25 and 12 1/2.  My hacks: use Better than Bouillon Chicken flavor for some of the salt; use half Velveeta, melted into the sauce, and half sharp cheddar, stirred in (or any combination of cheeses for desired flavor); some hot sauce to liven things up.

I don’t have anything big enough to make more than 25 servings at a time, so I make batches as needed. The time I made 75 servings was for a high school football player dinner and I served it in a roaster oven. Worked great! It was scraped clean.

Edit Forgot my other hack: undercook the macaroni by a couple of minutes and save 1 to 2 cups of pasta water per pound of macaroni. Add the water to the sauce.  Makes the sauce runny initially, but helps the end result be saucier and avoid over cooked Mac.

  5. I’m in the make my own, take a teaspoon a day camp. Last winter, I got 2 very mild colds right at the beginning of school, then started elderberry syrup. No illnesses at all the rest of the winter despite a very intense cold and flu season and regular exposure to preschoolers  that catch everything.

This year I caught a virus the first week of August! from those same preschoolers, having not started elderberry syrup yet. You can be sure I am taking syrup now!

I ordered one pound of organic elderberries from Amazon and bought raw local honey. Total cost about $30 for the year.

  6. First car purchase: 1974 Dodge Colt, purchased for $1600 in 1980, sold in 1986 for $800.

Next car, new 1986 Toyota Camry.  New 1989 Toyota Camry driven until 220k miles. 2004 Ford Windstar van purchased at 90k, driven until 240k. 2006 Toyota Sienna purchased at 160k, driven until 260k. 2009 Toyota Highlander purchased at 60k, currently at 140k, planning on another 100k?

No major repairs on any of the above. No rebuilt engines, no transmissions.

Wow. Since 1980 I have only owned 6 cars. The Camrys were overlapping and involved a divorce and remarriage.

Hm. I'm nnot understanding the defining line.  Is it leftover vs. fresh?  Cubed vs. shredded? Cast iron vs. a different kind of pan?

Shredded would make them hash browns.

    Cast iron optional.

    Fresh would work.

  8. Just so you know, Since he is over 18 he does not need to meet the requirements for first time licensees under 18, including a log of driving hours. He passes his driving test, supplies needed documents and he has a license. Dd got her license on her 18th birthday.

  9. I totally relate! One warm sunny day I took my fast food lunch to a parking lot that had a row of 12 or so parking spaces, all empty, that were mostly shaded. I parked near the end of the row, rolled down my window and started to eat my lunch. Another car came along, and you just know where they chose to park. Yep, right next to me on the drivers side. The driver gets out and the passenger stayed, rolled down her window, and proceeded to light up a cigarette! I had many thoughts about parking psychology in that moment lol. It took me all of 15 seconds to decide to move my car to the other end of the row.

  10. First of all, huge hugs! I have been following this saga from the beginning and am always interested in updates, so please continue.

It is truly shocking what some people think they can do and how the rules only apply to others. Otherwise, I am speechless.

  11. I am on Armour 90mg and Cytomel 20mcg (T3) and my TSH is very suppressed (0.004), but that is what it takes to get my Free T3 close to the top of the range. It’s not the answer to everything, but it feels a heck of a lot better than Synthroid! I wouldn’t mind trying Naturethroid, but am afraid to rock the boat lol.
