I'm glad some of the projects (animals) are a little easier. Otherwise, many looked very complex (maybe okay for my 17 yo).

I like Studying God's Word from Christian Liberty Press. We use it from 3rd to 7th. It is easy to use (workbook format), and it encourages application. Christian Book Distributors is one place you can look at it: http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/product?item_no=0109163&event=CF

but I really need to have someone else doing the lessons so that my children have that outside discipline.
You mentioned you want your children to have an outside teacher so they get the outside discipline. Well, that may be a factor of some significance, however, one hugely overlooked factor in making piano lessons successful (worth the time and money invested) is the discipline of practice at home. YOU will have to make them practice, even if YOU don’t teach the lesson.
By all means, go ahead and begin to teach them how to read music and other theory. This is a great idea until you can afford to pay for lessons regularly.

Follow the link. Click on the link BELOW "Here is a lapbook, feel free to download and use it." On the next page, in the yellow box on the left, click on "click here to start download." A dialogue box will pop up and ask you if you want to save or open it. Save it to a location where you can find it (I have a folder for "lapbooks" under "My Documents").

Even if you don't want to lapbook today, the links would be full of great information. We will be watching "Eyes on the Prize" about the Montgomery bus boycott.

The shorter ascenders and descenders is one good point. I also like that there are virtually no loops, the transition to cursive is very smooth, and the end result can be beautiful handwriting. Okay, :), I'll be happy with legible.

This is my third student through it, though this ds is requiring more of my attention, so you might say it is MY first time through it.:)

and it really was no big deal. I am a huge baby when it comes to pain. I think the dentist I had was very skilled, though, and that may make a huge difference. He was so fast too.
I drove myself to and from the appointment.
