  1. We absolutely love this. I wasn't sure we/I would like it, but it's amazing. SO worth the $20. Also, it's meant to last an entire year for grammar age students. I bought it for my 4th and 2nd this year, and am kicking myself for not having done it sooner! The books are amazing quality and the printing is high quality, too. :) Sorry to add this so late, but it popped up in a search on here! :/
  2. I love audio books. I love that I can access Librivox recordings on my Roku! Such a sanity saver! I haven't gotten a good look at Sequential Spelling, but I will have to if it can be somewhat independent. It is awesome that you do all of that in your morning meeting! I can think of some easy changes in my schedule, for sure! Here, we just do calendar and sing about yesterday, today, and tomorrow! Sheesh, I could have saved so much time! Oh, well. Lesson learned! Thanks you very much!!!
  3. I love SOTW, but I went crazy with it this past year, it just wasn't "meaty" enough for me. I had an Evernote notebook for every chapter full of websites, games, printables, pictures to study, etc.I even had printed out an entire notebook put together from downloads off of CurrClick and a bunch of lapbooks. I lost my mind. And I may have required a few too many sick days, because of it. I haven't made up my mind because cost scares me a little, but I am considering ToG, since it would save me a little time. Okay, a lot of time. If I DON'T do that, then I may have the hubby confiscate the computer for the school year... :P SOTW is awesome, though! Thanks for the age suggestion! I hadn't thought about that, but wow, that would help a lot!
  4. I might be having a panic attack. We "won" rights to our oldest daughter's education (custody in TX doesn't mean you can determine education without other parent consenting) so now we will be homeschooling three. Before, it was going to be just my almost 5 year old starting K and my almost 7 year old starting 2. Last year we studied Ancients and it was awesome. I don't know what to do this year with my fourth grader, I need to simplify as much as possible due to an illness (Multiple Sclerosis) so I would LIKE to keep them together. Do I start all over again from the beginning like the book says, or do I move on to year 2? Any advice is greatly appreciated, I'm so indecisive that picking our curriculum is already like standing in the world's greatest chocolate store and being told you can only pick one piece of chocolate. Which means this mama is losing her marbles. :D TIA!!!!
  5. I've gotten some amazing deals on Ebay. Last year I scored the Song School Latin complete set, CD, DVD, TM and Student manual (unused) for next to nothing. I have gotten all of my "big" books on Ebay, the complete versions of Pooh, Madeline, Curious George, Beatrix Potter, etc. for pennies. Kingfisher encyclopedia and Usborne for less than $10 each. Atlases, evan moor books are almost always cheaper, and a lot of homeschooling books. I search for title of book, author and then ISBN number. I've also gotten some great deals on "used" books from Amazon, but you can email the seller in both cases to be sure you're getting what you think you're getting. You have to compare prices, though. Sometimes the NEW books are cheaper on Rainbow Resource or CBD! Also: if you aren't happy, SEND IT BACK and get your money back! I'm such a people pleaser that I have a hard time with this... but you'll be miserable the rest of the time you need to use it, remembering the bad deal you got. :(
  6. The internet came out when I was a homeschooled teen at about 13. It did a lot of damage. ((And yes, this was my introductory post, I just had to get that out there. :D)) I was clever, my parents even had the computer facing out into the living room so they could see everything on the screen at any given point in time, but I still got away with a lot! You are doing a good job by putting that restriction up, stick to it!
