This site has lots of freebie lapbooks. There is one for the human body, although I have not looked at it. Hope this helps.

I think I'm going to model myself on you, and just give up the pretense of doing science activities. When DS is old enough, I'll have him take science classes at the CC, and he'll have a full lab there.

I guess that is just it.. It is free time doing what someone else wants to do.
I can understand how you are feeling. My dh job had us transferring around the country every 1-2 years leaving no time to form real friendships. Our dc stayed where ever we lived their senior year. This was very hard for me as being surrounded by family and friends has always been my dream.
I know in my hear that doing what is right for my family is the right thing to do, but sometimes I feel like I am just tagging along in everyone else's life.
No advise, just:grouphug:

Wow! I am amazed at how many are testing for various belts. This is so great! My dd just began taking lessons at the beginning of this year with our local co-op and just earned her yellow belt.

I have been very happy with HS Tracker. I first downloaded their free trial version and only used it for one day, I bought it the next. A nice thing they do is let you have all the updates, they make to it, for free from then on.

I use the Homeschool Tracker Basic and found it to very simple to use. It makes planning out dd schedule so easy. She likes to have it printed out daily so she can see exactly what needs to be done.

We adopted a 6 year old toy poodle, about eight pounds, 4 years ago. I took a lot of kidding because we live on a mountain. We invested in a good set of clippers which has saved a bundle. Dude has been the perfect dog. No shedding, no chewing, loves to hang with the deer outside ( they tolerate him...I think if deer could laugh, they would) He handles the winter cold and snow by wearing a coat outside (don't laugh, it works!) when it's below freezing, and we keep him clipped shorter in the summer. I think a poodle makes a wonderful pet.

My 9yr old dd read it earlier this year and zipped right through it.

I don't know, I'm just thrilled that I understood your thread title! :)

We cancelled our DishNet because of the long commercials and limited variety. Now we go online with Hulu.com and watch movies. It's free and although the movies do have commercials, they are about 20 seconds long and only 2 or 3 per movie. If you have a newer TV (we don't) you can hook the computer up to it and actually watch it on the TV. I think there are some other sites with free movies...just google free movies.

I've watched it a few times and would not ever consider letting my dd watch it. It is very dark and the characters are so stressed and unhappy. I found nothing redeeming in it...but, as I said, I have only watched a few shows.

We did SOTW 1 and 2 and dd loved them both (3rd & 4th grade). After looking at SOTW 3, I decided we would just do American History for 5th and 6th. dd loves studying history more indepth, with lots of outside reading, so I'm hoping this will work for us. We will pick up SOTW 3 in 7th grade.

Wow! I love the way all the information is laid out. Thanks for sharing!

Happy hunting
We use this with our dd and she loves it!

yesMy dd needs to survey people who are not related to each other. She is studying molecular genetics. Would you be willing to answer these questions? Thanks so much!1. Are your ear lobes free or fused?:bigear: free
2. Do you have dimples or not? no
3. Do you have a crease in your chin or not? no
4. Can you fold the tip of your tongue backward?:tongue_smilie: yes
5. Can you roll your tongue from the sides into a roll?

Me, too:glare:

:grouphug:Our dd 9 sounds just like yours! No physical changes yet, but the hormonal changes are driving me crazy. Not dd so much as dh reaction. Poor guy, he just doesn't understand females! Fortunately, dd has always been very easy to talk to. I just give her space and time to get control and then talk gently and let her know I understand what she is going through. She usually goes to her room on her own to calm down, which is a big help.

We are just finishing up this curriculum. Dd loves it! I like the 3 day/week layout. The teachers guide lays out each day for you. On day one dd reads the chapter and does the worksheets. Day 2 and 3 we do a short experiment. I also make up vocabulary word cards which we review together. At the end of the unit (4 chapters) there is a review page and unit test. The material is written in a fun, easy to understand language. You could get by with just reading the teacher's guide online and then printing off the student pages, worksheets and tests.

We had a French foreign exchange student (17) for one summer. She was quiet and seemed a little unsure of what was expected of her, but always helped when asked. She seemed very much the typical teenager.

I'm in total awe! What a great list of resources! Thank you for sharing.
Is a just turned 9 yr old usually in 4th grade?

My dd's birthday is one day before the cut off, so at 9 she is 4th grade. Had she been born a day later she would be in 3rd grade.
