  1. I - literally just 2 seconds ago - had to do this exact thing. The girl is a lonnnng-time friend and a sweetheart, but I think all she does from sun-up to sundown is "share"...arggh!

Anyway, over to the right of the post, over from the person's name, you should see a faint "down" arrow. Click it, then click "Unsubscribe from status updates from annoying friend".

I tried "Show only important updates", but still kept getting brain-numbing junk clogging my feed.

  2. Don't buy it!!!!!!

I bought that one a few days before Christmas and I just returned it a few weeks ago.

First of all, the hot water tasted like dirt so I never used that part.

Then a couple months ago, it started turning off in the middle of the brew cycle. It would brew a half-pot of coffee and then turn off.

I bought it at Sam's and they returned it, no problem.

I had another Cuisinart before that. It lasted 5 years so not too bad.

If you start looking on Amazon, almost every. single. coffee maker gets bad reviews so it's hard to know what to buy.

I ended up buying a G.E. percolator. It's only been a few weeks but so far it's great.

:( Thanks for the heads up, Kitten! I honestly doubt we'd ever have $100 to spend on a coffee maker anyway, but the dream was nice while it lasted. <sigh>

  3. I'm so happy to read such positive reviews of Cuisinart! We've had our eyes on this one because we do lots of instant cocoa, oatmeal, grits, etc., around here and I love the idea of the hot water tap.

BTW, I've been meaning to say a special "hey girl!" to you Quiv ~ we were friends back on the old AOL Moms Online boards forever ago.

    ENLTRAHAN/MzTrahan :grouphug: :D

  4. Hmm! I wonder how some are able to stream simultaneously on more than 2 devices? We just tried, with one show going through the Wii, one going through dh's phone, and then I tried to watch one on my laptop. It wouldn't let me! :(

I'm not really seeing how to get around this without "simply adding another email account", as their FAQ states, which is really just buying another Netflix account.

  5. I'm pretty sure you can watch different things on different devices. I would test it out for you, but my family is all still sleeping and I don't wanna lose this good thing by turning on the tv, sorry ;) I will later if you haven't already got the answer though.

I'm also *pretty sure* you can only do one queue. So, I'm really helpful, huh?

OK, nm on the 1st paragraph, I just went to the Netflix FAQ:

Netflix-ready Devices and Streams - Once you have an active Netflix membership, you can have 6 devices registered towards your account at any given time, and you may stream on up to two simultaneously. If you would like to stream on more than 2 devices at once, simply open a second account with a unique email address.

  6. however, I just finished season 1. That's all Netflix has. :glare:

    Dieing to see season 2.

Someone just tells me what happens!

I'm scared to read any replies because I don't want spoilers :tongue_smilie:, but I just looked on my library website and they have Season 2, so maybe yours does too?

We've just started watching as well, thanks to this board! We only have streaming Netflix, so thanks for the heads up that I'll need to reserve Season 2!

  7. My mom gave me a tote bag with that quote printed on one side ~ I love it!

On the other side it reads "My best friend is a person who will give me a book I have not read." (Abraham Lincoln)

I think she got it at B & N several years ago, and it actually is yellow-ish with black lettering. :001_smile:

  8. Nakia, a big :grouphug: to you, sweet lady.

I have been "the mother" in the situation you describe. Honestly, when I first learned that my dd's youth leader already knew, I was a bit upset that she hadn't clued me in. After the initial shock wore off, however, I was simply grateful that my dd has another, "godly" (I *hate* that term for some reason, but can't think of another right now to convey what I want to say) woman whom she loves and trusts, and in whom she knows she can safely confide. I learned that her leader counseled her in the exact ways that I would, (and did.)

I think you are right not to break the confidence. And another :grouphug: to you, and all the awesome women and men who are willing to come alongside our young people to love, encourage, and guide them...even when it's hard.

  9. I will pray :)

My husband had been a master brick mason for 18 years when his back "blew out" in 2001. He was lost! He loved laying brick and never thought he'd do anything else. In '02 he began taking computer classes with little more knowledge than it took to turn the machine on and off. In '04 he got in with an older man who had a one-man computer shop, and more or less "apprenticed" under him. In '06, the man was ready for retirement, and we were able to buy the business.

It's so funny because my husband is a big ol' biker-looking guy, covered with tattoos, a gruff manner, and pretty much the exact opposite of what one might expect of a "computer nerd." He's great at what he does though, has an instinctive head for business (unlike me, who feels sorry for everyone and would give everything away), and his customers are fiercely loyal.

Sorry to ramble, I just really hoped to encourage you both. Welcome to the next season of your life!

  10. All this talk about what is or is not trashy has brought to mind bittersweet memories of my ex "old man". He was paralyzed from the waist down at the age of 21 - (yes, motorcycle) - but never let that stop him. He dealt with that blow by building a trike. (Ohh the stories I could tell about my years on the back of that trike...) The accident also necessitated a career change for him, from electrician to tattoo artist. He introduced me to the man I am married to today. I loved him dearly.

Every time we went out, this was the first song he'd throw on the jukebox :D

Here are a couple pics that were used at his memorial service 2 years ago. Yes, that is me. I was touched and blessed that his wife chose to use that and one more of the 2 of us in the picture display.

Rest in peace, Allen. Love always, one of your trashy women.

  11. But, the fact remains that there are at least 40% of the people responding to the other thread's poll who do honestly feel that tattoos are "trashy, low-class or ugly."

I think the anonymity of the poll is a safe way for those people to express their true feelings without being chastised for using the words that are accurate to those true feelings.

Of course tattoo afficionados are going to be offended by those words. From reading these threads, they are offended by anyone not in their camp, but it is what it is, and everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I'm kind of getting tired of people getting reamed and chastised because they used a word to express themselves accurately when they were asked their honest opinion.

Frankly, I'd much rather know where someone REALLY stands on an issue than to have to guess based upon the little socially polite dance they do around the issue.

And, FWIW... I voted "other" in that poll because I don't care if others have tattoos but I sure as heck don't want one on myself. As far as the word "trashy" goes... IMO, trashy is as trashy does. The wrapper doesn't mean a thing.

THANK you Audrey!! Besides that, I kept up with both threads last night, and words were twisted!! The original wording was a person's OPINION of having always viewed them as TACKY, *not* TRASHY. Trashy was brought in later, and had the words "NOT NECESSARILY" in front of it.

How that turned into (on the poll thread) - "SEVERAL people using those EXACT WORDS to express their ABSOLUTE DISGUST" - I don't know, but it is certainly NOT the way things went down.

At least that's the good thing about message boards; collective *you* can always go back and read for yourself...

  12. Most of ours have come from stuff the kids have said over the years that we still say. A couple examples:

"I'm trying my best, what do you respect?!"

"You say potato, I say tomato" (This came actually just the other day from my beautiful, very blonde, 12 year old dd <sigh>)

We go to the "movie zuhvater" when we feel like seeing a film.

I never liked correcting them when they said words wrong because I always thought it was so cute and I knew they'd figure it out eventually and I'd lose my giggle.

Oh, and we love each other more than collards & cornbread.

  13. Pretty contact paper? I once had the UGLIEST refrigerator in. the. world. in a dumpy little trailer I rented, and a friend suggested a pretty patterned contact paper covering. I was leery but desperate and it ended up being adorable!

The only other thing that comes to mind is a few of those cheap, light-weight, full-length mirrors, maybe?

I also really love the idea of painting murals on them.
