  1. Ok, I get that with regular books, the kids can read whatever they want and the grade level is unimportant. But we do use curriculum for "reading" with homeschooling. We use the Amish Pathway readers.

     

    This year ds used the grade 2 readers and workbook. He does great with the actual reading and comprehension. He has a little trouble with the mechanics and grammar covered in the workbook, but then so I do (it's been a long time).

     

    The boy also read the whole Harry Potter series this year. He can read well.

     

    For the coming year, I need to decide whether to continue and get the third grade reader set or skip him to fourth grade in that. I'm leaning towards buying the fourth grade set, but am wondering if there's anything he'll miss if I do that.

     

    Oh, he'll be turning eight in October.
