Now that I know more, that woman is off her rocker if she thinks your dishin out money to her. She should be embarrassed.

I have had one and it was ok. But, in your situation I would have cabinets that were deep with doors so I could cover up all the supplies.
I would put in a mini kitchen for snacks and a little fridge. I would have a science spot and a locked cabinet for all the supplies.
I would do a chalkboard wall and cubbies to rotate toys for my younger one.
I would make an area for jackets and shoes.
Comfy couch and chairs. Maybe the TV down there because I love not having a TV in my living room. It is awesome to have guests and they have to talk instead of watch TV.
A comfort corner with pillows and little shelves for cranky kids to go to when upset.
A punching bag.
A hammock.

I would be upset that they didn't notice a child in a FL. That is scary. I would not pay for it. They should be much tougher than that. She needs to check with her insurance. I personally would not buy a 2000 machine without getting a warranty on it. When we had ours I purposely purchased it from Best Buy so it could be fixed because they are expensive to fix and replace.
It is probably going to ruin the friendship. But, such is life.

I won't shake my head. It sounds like you have a great plan. I was just trying to figure out what to do about out next science level.
-
Oh that sounds really good. I might give that a go for my two older sons.

science! never thought i'd say it but i pretty much can't stand science right now. not that anything is awesome, but science stinks.
I would totally do that. I am not sure of your ages. But, you could get a kit and a stack of books from the library and give them to Dad. Science Saturday with Dr. Dad!

Well, I think you need to talk with Daddy. He can choose a subject and work with the kids on it. Then they get to do something with Daddy. When both parent's work, both parent's really need to school the kids, as well. Absolutely, tell your husband that you are worn down. Do NOT be a Mommy Martyr.

I try to gather up the kids and read and make sure we eat together. It is awful at first. But, after a few days they calm down and everything in our life is calmer. I have no idea why those things do that. But, they recenter our family. But, seriously they end up fighting and screaming for a few days. I just try to ignore it till it gets better. I just have been trying to not let go of those things. It is so easy to do it since my husband lives in another state. But, it is vital to our survival right now.
A rotating menu helps, too. Just make a list of 6 meals and 1 leftover day. Then do that for a month or two. List all meals and snacks. It is boring. But, it takes a huge amount of information off my brain. I try to include a crockpot day. If you have anyone else who likes to cook you can use them to make a dinner or breakfast.

It is the only thing I use to wash my dreads:). But, we use it for everything else around the house. I do the foaming pump for my boys. I love it in the shower. I have a condition, hyperhydrosis, and the peppermint keeps it controlled and my hands and feet don't break out like they use, too.

Yes. I have wanderlust.

I haven't used either. But, I have been comparing because I have one science kid. The amount of lab supplies for BJU is much larger.

Have you tried xtramath yet. It is online and pretty simple. It is just for math facts. My easily frustrated delayed 9yo is doing so much better in math since he started using it. And, he uses MUS.

Currently, a couple of yoga type outfits. Until, we recently we just haven't had the money and my clothing is seriously dwindling. I need to go out soon and get some new clothes. I like jeans and cotton shirts personally, birks, and converse. Just fits my personality and wears well. Yoga pants are nice when the weather is cooler though. I have hyperhydrosis and it is just near impossible for me to wear certain dressier fabrics for more than a few hours. Cotton and jeans breathe well and don't show the sweat. Sweat is so embarrassing in this society which just leads to more sweat for me:(

I will add, I don't think son deserves a free pass either. It seems to be a pretty common dynamic between men and older sons. It makes me kind of sad :(. I do wonder if it has to do with hormones and such. Our boys would be considered men a whole lot sooner in other societies. It seems more naturally then having all these men around.

Your husband is being the jacka$$
He needs to know that his son doesn't need entertaining. He needs attachment, attention and understanding. I suggest a counselor personally.
Not sure there is anything you can do to fix it. You didn't do it.

I finally went to Bare Minerals. I could never find anything. Foundations were always too dark unless it was mid-summer.

Did you swipe over? Because if you get email on your iPad, then you may have notes under your iPad, gmail, etc.
-
Well, I be :). Yeah, yeah, yeah :)

I just found BetterWorldbooks. They have free shipping, too!

You could build one, as well. I have seen some made out of twin matresses and pallets that looked comfy. If we end up needing an extra couch, I am using a bed. Just a long headboard in the side that is upholstered and lots of pillows.

Our Ikea sectional comes in two pieces. We fit it down the Stairs that go into our house. Not sure if that helps. It is lightweight, too. My Aunt had a couch with recliners that weighed a metric ton:p. I would not want to be the person that fell on.

Check all your seasonings, anything canned and don't use wood spoons.
Enchilada casserole
Taco salad...I appreciated salad and fresh fruit after my babies. Maybe because I am a pretty healthy eater. But, people tend to bring dairy filled casseroles that end up making me sick.
Potatoe soup...mine has canned coconut milk, corn, green chilis, potatoes, onion, garlic.
Lasagna wouldn't be hard if you use GF noodles. Tinkiyada is a good brand.
Garlic roasted chicken, quinoa and a fresh salad.
White chili...just choose a GF broth. Make sure to include the extras like chips, salsa, sour cream, cilantro and limes wedges.
Stew..no flour or season packets.
We had someone who fishes bring us a whole salmon cooked in foil. That was the most original meal I have ever gotten.

I tried that once. It went over like a lead balloon. She looked at me like I had three heads or something and said "You're the one who's doing something different than society".
I would get a new hairdresser. Your money, your time, and you are paying for someone to share their bad manners with you.

I think I am a bad ass and most people don't mess with me :p. but, I find it funny that people will think it judgmental if we mention homeschooling would be an option for a child.
I am moving to a place where the schools are considered all that and a slice of pie. So, we will see how things go. I made have to put on my tough skin.

We ended up using Italics for my the older two and I do not like the outcome. I was thinking of going to A Reason for Handwriting. Just wanted to see what the Hive likes :)
