  1. Oh, I'm so sorry...hopefully something will work ASAP!

Check earthclinic.com, if you're into natural cures...I *think* that's where I read that putting a drop of Apple Cider Vinegar (will need to be organic with "the mother") on it (OUCH!!) will help. We tried it with our child a few weeks ago and it worked! Gone next day!

  2. Love, love, love the discussion! LOTS to chew on and mull over. I do not intend to change our main course of study because of "said" relative, but I did hope to find out some sources to check out for extra reading, etc. I wonder if this is a spot where I could pull some videos from Netflix or Discovery Streaming...Thanks for Leap Pad information.

Regarding testing, the reason the relative was concerned because in the local district this particular grade didn't fair well in science. Just as you are all discussing...

  3. The curriculum we use has a different science and history sequence than the local public school. This relative is wanting to know if we could also "cover" the same topics that are covered in the public school, though we have freedom in our state to pursue our course of studies with more freedom. I am not planning to alter our main course of study, but was wondering:

Any websites or online programs that would help my kids to at least read up on those concepts that the local public school is "covering" and "testing"? In case we entered public school at some point?

    Thanks!

  4. I know I've seen some of these around. Do you have a fave you pull from? For pretty much any elementary age? I am wanting background info on the holidays and other special days, along with some fun and educational ideas to make that day a little special. Just something different and fun to pull from, even like Washington's birthday, Groundhog Day and the first day of spring! (It could be Christian based or not.)

    Thanks!

  5. Anybody read "The Crazy Makers: How the Food Industry Is Destroying Our Brains and Harming Our Children"? Wow. I'm just soaking it all in. The premise is that many of our attention/behavior/learning issues can be traced back to additives/chemicals we ingest or otherwise get hold of somehow. It's a fascinating read that I highly recommend, if for no other reason than to gain some knowledge of what these chemicals can do. If you chose to look into this theory, you could lay off of any packaged/processed food for a few weeks and see if it helps? Just an idea. I don't at all want to assume I know your diet, or seem to devalue your issue. :001_smile: We have some of these issues in our household that we're trying to get to the root of also.

  6. What do you guys use as far as websites, books, people when it comes to tech advice? Just for keeping computer up to par, etc.? Seems like you have to pay a fortune to get someone to come out and look at your computer. Is there a source you use to help educate yourself on the ever-changing technology scene? Thanks!

  7. Great ideas! Guess I should have clarified...this is a weekly gathering for up to 100 children, and the decision by the one in charge is to have some type of healthier, snack type food available. In the past there was a scheduled "snack time" but they're moving away from that but still want kids to have an option to "grab" a snack. (I do know many kids who need something...or may be more alert or obedient... every few hours because of adrenal/blood sugar issues.) Wish there was time/personnel/money to cut up veggies and fruit-- which would be my very favorite option. :)

    You guys are great.
