You've all inspired me to give it a try. I started two books yesterday - Pride and Prejudice (not the first time) and Halsey's Typhoon.

Chef is by far our favorite, but we also like Waiting for God and Fawlty Towers. I like Keeping Up Appearances, but dh can't stand it, so we don't watch it often.

I guess I was a late bloomer. I was 37 and dh was 32 -first marriage for both.

Hi, I'm an afterschooling lurker - mom to ds13 -private school 7th, and ds10- public school 3rd.
On the SAT, ds13 has always scored between 75 & 99 percentile in everything except language mechanics. That score has always been under 40 and as low as 18. After reading about AG on this Board last year, I bought it. Ds wasn't happy, but he worked through the first season this past year. SAT scores came yesterday & his language mechanics score was 87! Could one year of AG really account for this jump?

I'm so glad to hear this! I've been thinking of using Right Start with my ds who is just finishing 3rd grade in ps, but is way below grade level in math. I have several levels of Right Start (from homeschooling older ds several years ago) and I may just start at the beginning because he still struggles with basic addition and subtraction.

I get most of my ideas from reading the Curriculum Board and then order online. I've ordered Analytical Grammar, Latin Prep, SWR and Right Start Math that way. All but Latin Prep I ordered directly from the companies. This year I'll be getting Rosetta Stone German from Amazon. I only buy one or two things a year, so I haven't spent much time shopping around.

I second the Canyon River Blues Slim. There are several different styles and all of them fit my 13 yr old who is 5' and 70 lbs. Now, if I could just find shirts with sleeves as long as his arms!

Bigelow Cinnamon Stick is my every-morning hot tea, but I love Celestial Seasonings Chocolate Caramel Enchantment Chai with a little milk in the afternoon. I've got one brewing right now.

I rarely post, but have been lurking for years. I registered, though, just in case. I afterschool and summer school my 2 ds - 7th and 3rd. My 7th grader is in a Christian school and my 3rd grader is in ps. My younger ds has some learning issues, so I love the special needs board.

Just wondering -- how many of you are grandparents? Tell me about your grandchildren!

I should be! I'll be 55 this month, but my kids are 14 & 10. Not sure I want to think about how old I'll be by the time I'm a grandma.
