I would do some reading on the effects of fetal alcohol exposure. With my ds, I think this has been more of a factor than the drug exposure - he was exposed to both. He was delayed from the start, though and has had behavioral issues all along, but the teenage years have been more challenging than I was prepared for. The foster care system really downplayed the potential effects, and even though I did my own research & thought I was going into this with my eyes open, well they weren't open wide enough. I'm not saying I wouldn't do it again, but I have had my doubts.

This is why I love Florida - it's 82 and sunny today.

Vermont Country Store carries the Jubilee Wax. I just saw it on the site today.
Bless you! I just ordered some.

Jubilee Kitchen Wax - I'm still hoarding one 10 year old can.
Personal Touch razors - I can't find any that I like as well.

Another late bloomer here. I didn't marry until I was 37, so now I'm 59 and my boys are 19 & 15. I don't think I've had any problems being an older parent, even being pregnant for the first time at 40. Of course, since I didn't have kids when I was younger, I don't have anything to compare it to. I just haven't noticed any limitations in parenting because of my age.
I was a little taken aback the other day when I found out that ds19 has a friend whose mom is only 38. I'm old enough to be her mom!

I've had my teak table for at least 30 years and it has held up really well. I've never covered it with anything. Once in a while I use teak oil on it, but usually I just wipe it down with a damp cloth and some disinfectant. Water spots sometimes stay for a day or two, but eventually they fade away. When my boys wrote on it with permanent marker, I used a Magic Eraser to get it off. It's been really easy to take care of. I just wish the chairs that came with it hadn't fallen apart.

My son's bus rolled in just after midnight. I was surprised that the boys getting off the bus seemed full of energy. I would have been exhausted. They woke up to rain yesterday morning, so they were really soggy after packing up, but they all looked great last night. There were lots of hugs and "I'll miss you" among the boys - brought tears to my eyes. I think ds liked being in the assistant scoutmaster role.
Since ds will be going into the Marines in the fall, this was probably his last Scouting experience for a while. I made sure to get some pictures last night because I may not see him in the Scout uniform again. Maybe that's where the tears were coming from - he's all grown up.

I've had a few texts from my son, but not many details. He thinks the place is amazing & loves it there, though. He did say that the food has been good and he's having a great time trading patches. Just found out that his troop is posting pictures to their Facebook page, but I haven't seen them yet. I'm at work & Facebook is blocked here, so I'll have to wait.

Thanks for starting the thread! Ds18 left with our Council contingent on Saturday morning. This is his 2nd Jamboree, but this time he's going as 3rd Assistant Scoutmaster and I've been out of the information loop. He's not good at communicating details & I want to know every detail because the whole event fascinates me. I do know they went whitewater rafting yesterday. I'm sure your son will have a great time.

My ds took a generic version for a couple of months last summer, but it did nothing at all for his acne, so we stopped it. It was actually free at Publix at the time, although I read that it was dropped from the free list last fall.

Wow - Ellie's posts really brought back memories of Junior High! I had purses and loafers exactly like that. Guess that dates me! Loved the article about Villager - I can still see those matching cardigan sweaters and knee socks.

I'll second the Jergens Skin Smoothing lotion and exfoliation, Those 2 things keep my KP under control.

I remember taking penicillin as a kid, but when I took amoxicillin as an adult, I broke out like I had the measles. It's the only allergic reaction I've ever had.

I just got the numbers for my son this morning. He's 18, but is just now getting his license. My rate will go from $76 per month to $174 per month, so more than double.

Walgreens has Vanicream products. Almost bought some the other day so maybe I'll go back and get some.

Sorry - messed up the quote thing.

I was 40 when my oldest was born, so now I'm 58 and my boys are 18 & 14. It doesn't seem strange at all to me, though. Yes, some friends my age have grandchildren, but I've found that quite a few of my kid's friend have parents close to my age. At least enough so that I don't feel like the oldest mom in the world. I think having teens in my 50s keeps me young!

I've been going to a Massage Envy for several months now & the massages have done wonders for my problem areas - neck & shoulders & tension headaches. I don't know if the same would go for lower back, but it might be worth a try. That or a chiropractor.
I like the chain, but they will try to get you to join and pay a monthly fee that includes one massage a month. I decided to do it because there is a significant price difference for members vs non-members. They usually have a lower introductory price for your first massage. I've tried several of the massage therapists and have liked them all.

Mine is 5.75 years younger.

Mine has lessened with age, so I don't do anything now but scrub the daylights out of it (don't think the gentle Buf-Puf would do the trick, though.) The only thing that ever cleared it up completely was a retin-A prescription, but that was messy & expensive. Mine always gets better in the summer, so maybe the sun exposure helps. I've always thought I was the only one in the world with KP!

It's been a few years, but I read some of them when my ds started reading the series. I don't remember anything inappropriate in them.

Anne Perry has 2 detective series set in the 1800s, Monk and Pitt; I like both. Clive Cussler has a detective series (Isaac Bell) set in the early 1900s and also a modern series (Dirk Pitt) that are both good.
I like James Patterson, Tom Clancy and Robert Ludlam, too, but they may be more intense than you're looking for.

The only thing that has ever worked for me is Barielle Total Foot Care Cream. I rub it into my feet after my shower in the morning and before bed. It's amazing.
