My sister is doing this right now & seems to like it. If you have any specific questions, I can ask her. I think the only issue she's mentioned is that the timing of her eating throughout the day is on a schedule and she has trouble getting the snacks and meals in at the appropriate times.

The SE tax reduction was just extended through 2012, so the 2011 2210 form should work for you. No telling when the 2012 form will be out.
I admire you for doing all that by hand.
-
Form 2210 is for calculating a penalty on underpayment of estimated taxes, but the current form is the 2011 version. You shouldn't need it just to apply your overpayment to 2012 taxes; just enter the overpayment on line 75 of your 1040 if you want the whole thing applied.
If you are wanting to calculate your estimate of 2012 taxes, use form 1040-ES for that. It's available now.

I'm not an expert, but what I remember from my trip last summer is that you need an adapter to fit the outlet prongs and a converter to change the voltage. Most things I had (curling iron, cell phone, computer) seemed to be dual voltage and just needed the adapter. I think the device may tell you what the voltage is. You can get kits at Target & Walmart that include both a converter and adapter.

I was searching through DVDs on the PBS website, looking for inspiration for in-law gifts, when I saw this: the Colin Firth combo pack!
I already have Pride & Prejudice, but it's going on my wish list anyway.

Sometimes I feel sorry for my 2 boys because they only have 2 cousins. DH and I each have one sister & they each had only one child. I have 9 cousins (7 around the same age as my sister and me, 2 about 10 years older) & have great memories of vacations with them when I was a kid. My parents moved to Florida before I was born, so vacations were always spent going to Indiana to visit all the relatives.
My kids don't know the difference, but it just seems that they are missing out by not having a big extended family.

We had a hamster years ago that didn't fare too well in an encounter our dachshund (hamster got out of his cage & was running around on the floor), but the same dog had a scar on his nose from his only run in with a cat.
We've had several dachshunds and I don't think I would have left any of them alone with a kitten - at least until the kitten could defend itself! I love dachshunds, but I read once that they were bred to go into holes and kill what they found there. I think that explains a lot about their personalities!

My boys also liked the The Annals of Aeliana Series with Ryann Watters. There are 2 - Ryann Watters and the King's Sword & Ryann Watters and the Shield of Faith. Eric Reinhold is the author.

I work in an office building in Orlando and have noticed that most of the women I see do not wear pantyhose with dresses or skirts. With business suits, on the other hand, most women of all ages seem to wear hose - summer or winter. This is what I do myself, except that in winter (or what passes for winter here) I will wear pantyhose with dresses, otherwise I get cold.

September is the worst month for me, but I know that some people are bothered in the spring. I've never heard anyone complain of allergies from November through January, but things start blooming again in February. Summer isn't too bad because the afternoon thunderstorms wash any pollen away.

I've been lurking here for almost 10 years. We started out homeschooling, but the boys have been in ps for years and afterschooling is hit or miss these days. I post very rarely, but I'm here lurking every day and find all kinds of great ideas and information.

Last summer we stayed at Snowshill Hill Farm Estate B&B & thought it was wonderful. There is a lavender farm just down the road from it. There are some pictures here http://www.broadway-cotswolds.co.uk/snowshillhill.html.

I'm really old! I'm 57 & my boys are 16 & 13. That's what happens when you have your first one at 40!

Well, I've never figured it out, either. I always get those little projections, too & just thought that's how the cheese slicer worked. I'll try it horizontally next time. Thanks for the tip!

Anyone else have a scout at Jamboree? Ds 15 is there and from what I could gather from his one phone call home on Saturday, he's having a great time. He's working on merit badges in fly fishing, railroading & crime prevention there. The man teaching fly fishing wrote the merit badge book!
He went to Camp Daniel Boone in NC in June - a nice change from our Florida summer.

We used the Principle Approach back when we were homeschooling and still do to some extent in our afterschooling, and my experience has been the same as Debbie's. The focus is on the 4R method and learning to apply Biblical principles.
As I understood it, every nation would have its own Christian history, but we focus on America's because we are Americans. America is just another link in the chain of Christianity and its westward move around the globe. The emphasis is on how God has used men and nations to accomplish his purposes throughout history.

Both of my boys started as Tigers. Ds15 has been in scouting 8 years (took a year off between Webelos & Scouts) He is Star and has all the requirements for Life - just needs to complete his 6 months as Star. That will be in June. He's looking forward to going to the National Jamboree this summer and making it to Eagle in another year.
Ds12 has been in scouting 5 years, is a Webelo and will be crossing over to the Troop soon. His goal right now is just to be a Boy Scout - hasn't thought past that yet.
Dh is an Eagle Scout and is an Asst. Scoutmaster for the Troop & Webelo leader.

much as I hate to say it, homeschooling is what got put on hold when I had to go back to work a few years ago. I'm just barely hanging in there with afterschooling at this point.
I wish I could figure out a way to do more, but with dh and I both working, we just haven't been able to do much more that supervise homework. Most of what I call afterschooling takes place during school breaks and in the summer.

We've had our microwave/convection combo for over 10 years and I love it. We don't use it every day, but it sure is handy when I need to bake more than one thing at 2 different temperatures, or when my oven fills up on Thanksgiving. Dh likes it for toasting sandwiches, too.
I didn't know what to do with it at first, but I'd miss it now if I didn't have it. Mine doesn't have a turntable, though, so I just have to put in a metal rack for convection cooking.

We're using Latin Prep (Galore Park) for ds 14 and he seems to like it. We use it mostly in the summer and other school breaks - just enough afterschool to keep from forgetting everything.
-
Barielle Foot Cream is the only thing that has ever worked for me. Dh uses it, too.
-
Just financial in our case. I went back to work several years ago so that dh could go to graduate school. At the time, we thought it would be for just a couple of years and dh would continue to homeschool, but for a variety of reasons, that didn't work out and we put the kids in school. Dh was not employed for a few years after graduate school and even now that he is, I don't see being able to quit my job any time soon.
Our oldest ds starts high school next year and is excited about getting into an engineering magnet school, so I don't think we'd bring him home again at this point. Our 4th grade ds is still a possibility, though. He has some special needs that I believe would be better addressed at home.
Question for those who take Imitrex (or other triptan drug) to treat migraines.

Treximet does the same thing to me. I've never been able to figure out why sometimes it knocks me out and sometimes it doesn't.
