  1. Well, I got full points on my presentation, which was just enough to pass the class by the skin of my teeth. Anything 83% or below means the class has to be repeated. I got an 84.69%. Phew. She loved the presentation. I used the picture frame template and it came together nicely. Ok, back to work for me; break is over. I was showing dd my template choices and the one I chose. She's proud of me.
  2. Ok, back to homework for me. Be back in an hour for a break. Setting the timer...
  3. Oh, I did get the book on Friday. But, that's the day I went out of town. I'll start reading it tomorrow and I'm getting oldest daughter on board as well.
  4. Well, so am I. That's why I was trying to pass it on to you, lol! :P
  5. Pm me your address. I'll send one if I find it. But, you'll have to post a pic of you with it on.
  6. Tell Mary I do the same thing (cry after I've eaten the bacon, that is).
  7. I think the most I can get in this class is a B, and she has been very generous because of my circumstances. I'll take a B though! My GPA will still be above a 3.5. Which I NEVER had in undergraduate schools.
  8. Class #1 is done! I hope I pass. Now on to class #2. I have 4 hours. Go!
  9. You can start with a fun song that includes pictures, hand motions, and/or gestures that will assist with learning English. Calendar time that includes counting and patterns (circle on one date, triangle on other, circle again, etc. Combine with using one color for different shapes and you have added color and shape vocabulary). If you know a song in the native language, sing it as well, or look one up on youtube to play. It would be great if you find a native song similar to the English song you sing. Write her name and have her practice the English names for the letters. Is she literate in her native language? If so, that skill will transfer to English. Vocabulary, vocabulary, is important. Always pair with pictures or hand motions that describe what is said. Read stories with lots of pictures so that things can be pointed out. Reading poems (nursery rhymes, etc.) let's her hear patterns of language and rhymes. Making sure all the input (information) she is getting is comprehensible by paring with pictures and such is important at this time, as she is learning new labels for familiar and unfamiliar items and concepts. It would also be good if there is an underlying theme in what you do in circle. That way, vocabulary will be repeated and she will have a chance to practice. If you're reading a book about bunnies for example, the song you sing could be Little Bunny Foo Foo, or something like that.
  10. I was being facetious. But, dang, how long does your service last?
  11. It has been two hours. On a Sunday, no doubt. People are not taking this thread seriously.
  12. Currently, the clothes are a large part of the clutter, and in order to tame it, I have to Konmari it to get it out of the way!
  13. In other news, I woke up wanting to Konmari fold my clothes. So, that's what I'm doing.
  14. Dd was writing out a pros and cons list to homeschooling or going back to the performing arts school. She's kind of funny. Under cons, she put "no life" under homeschooling and "life sucks" under school. I'm like, seriously? She did mention she kinda wants to go back to school. I understand that. She's moving up a full level in dance (from 1 to 2B, instead of 2A, the only one from her group), and some of her younger friends - ones that are actually friends - supposed to be starting there this upcoming year. This was something I had been telling her since early spring when she was having social problems. She does see pros to both options. I did tell her that if she started school and decided to come back home, that would be easier than starting at home and trying to get back into the school. I don't know if she'd have to audition again, but there are limited spaces (it's a charter school).
  15. I'll keep this thread above the spam for a little while.
  16. Don't ya'll just love my middle-of-the-night running commentary?
  17. Whew, that feels better. Now back to homework. Last day of one of my classes.
  18. Still working on homework. Two down, two to go. But it is soooo hot, I'm going to take a shower. yes, in the middle of the night.
  19. It didn't take long since this post to reach that point.
  20. The trip was great, the car didn't break down and I wasn't afraid of it breaking down. Amazing what spark plugs and oil that doesn't look like chocolate can do for a car. We enjoyed the performance, although we though dd should have been given a particular variation because the girl they chose was...not that good. Dd said the other girl got it because she's tall, although she and another short girl were better. Anyway... I'm doing homework now. I have 4 hours and 59 minutes to get things done. I have the signed job acceptance in my email draft folder. I have until Monday to send it. I have a subscription to ancestry.com. I'll get back to it eventually. I'm not training the dog. Older dd is back. And I'm getting a citronella collar. Meanwhile, dogs will be in the house at night. Decluttering: Monday, everyone is doing clothes. Dh gave me permission to do his as he is not picky. Tuesday, books. Wednesday until the end of my life will be papers. Thursday, toys. Don't want to plan too much, as I will get behind and will need Friday to catch up. I will be exercising in the mornings.I'll be grimy and gross the rest of the day as I cannot fit in a shower until the evening, but I'll stay out of public and have exercise done. World peace: I will forget about world peace. If I can get some semblance of peace in my own home, I'll be happy. :D
