  1. I accept lines as a necessary evil, and do not make myself or others miserable over things I can not control. However, I much prefer to give my business to companies that are run efficiently with enough qualified staff available to meet the needs of every one of their clientele in a timely manner so that none of our time is wasted. I voted "no" to lines.

  2. I'm praying for my husband, daily. Praying that he has the patience to put up with me as I change. Praying that God gives him the strength to get through each day, bring him home safely...the list goes on. He's uppermost in my mind and heart, so I always pray for him, about him, giving thanks for him in my life.

    ...and what she said :blushing:

  3. What?! No, we're not. Well, some men may be, but not "husbands."

I can tell you that my own husband is a GOOD man who would never leave his family. However, he is a normal man who has had his struggles, and I feel blessed that we have been able to communicate openly about them. It is only through prayer and staying focused on God that we have been able to hold it together. I know that he and I are both very grateful for anyone who cares enough about our family to use valuable knee time on our behalf.

  4. I haven't read the thread. I voted "no as long as she is discreet" and I wanted to explain my answer. In a mixed group of men and women, I think it is probably more polite for her to nurse discreetly, but I do not think this requires throwing a blanked over herself. In fact this often draws attention to the fact that she is nursing which could very well have gone unnoticed otherwise. I have had men, including my pastor, walk right up to me and start a conversation without noticing that the baby wasn't just "sleeping". ;-) If a woman in in the company of other women than I think she should be able to relax while nursing, and the same discretion is not necessary.

  5. I have 4 chidren and love my dh. We have lived together since we were married.

We hold a Biblical view of marriage:

    one man and one wife

no porn (hard, soft, or any other kind)

Please note that I am not asking for anyone to agree or disagree with me. I'm just sharing.

    ;)

Now I've seen it all...

I am unclear about the use of the word "minority" in this thread. When more than 50% of marriages end in divorce, and countless other families are non-traditional in structure, it would seem to me that those of us who remain married are the minority.

  6. HELLO. This is just a cheap stunt by a legislator who is abusing the legislative process to garner publicity to make a "point".

Any legislator can "introduce" legislation, and this one is capitalizing on the Barbie anniversary and his understanding of how the "news-media" works to "make news", and rile a few people up in the process.

But this is never going to be a law. Isn't intended to ever be a law, and wouldn't pass constitutional muster if it were passed (which it never will be).

We don't need to cling to our Barbies. The government ain't comin' for 'em. This is one "joker" who figured out how to stir the pot. It's cheap politics, and this kind of stunt would likely cost a politician my future support, but I can see this for what it is.

    Bill

    What exactly is his point?

  7. I learned from a dietician, while pregnant with my second, that both corn and peas are dietarily classified as 'starch', not 'vegetable'. I was, um, 29 at the time. My parents served us the standard-American-junk-diet growing up, and corn was usually the only 'vegetable' we saw. And to think of all the times I choked down peas as an adult, thinking they were good for me. I'd much rather have broccoli or grean beans...

It's weird, I very rarely serve corn to my family. I really do love it, but after learning the truth about it, and considering how much I ate of it as a child, I just can't bring myself to serve it.

I think technically peas are legumes like beans.
