I would say something! When I was little, our neighbor used to plant roses and shrubs on our side of the property line. My parents mentioned it to them, the plants stayed...my Dad mowed them down....flat. That neighbor did this again a few years later..this time my father just got out the lawn mower right away.... They moved shortly after that. My parents felt it was very encroaching. They (the neighbors) had a large yard too!
Good luck, I hate these type of situations.

Well get this one - when I told my guy I was a vegetarian he promptly pointed to a barbecue and asked me what that was doing in my yard, I told him it was a planter and shut the door! The nerve of some people:D
:lol: That is too funny! I do eat meat, but I love veggies done on the grill!
we had the guys with meat in their truck come here last summer...a month or so after this thread started..same exact lines...I really couldn't believe it! We did not buy any... I told them we eat grass fed or what we hunt. then I shut the door.
I'm going to be chuckling about the barbeque all day...thanks.

Thank you all very much, I have more to go on now!

I'm left handed and so is DH. I use right handed scissors because that is what I grew up with. I am now no longer comfortable cutting with my left hand. I never bought myself special notebooks, but used to use them backwards. Then a friend mentioned the ones that flip over from the top.
My kids are all righties.
I don't see the sense in a few things, how can a ruler be lefty?
personally, I would buy the child lefty scissors and some lefty notebooks or flip from the top notebooks.

bumping just incase anyone has a great atlas they just want to talk about!

I'm looking for a great atlas. Do any of you have an atlas that you love?
or one you hate?

We are doing Chem I this year with an 8 and 6 year old. They love it. We also don't fill in the lab reports. Experiments are great. I did supplement it with real science 4 kids chemistry as well. Plus, the game Elemento which is monopoly but using the periodic table. That game is available at Rainbow Resource http://www.rainbowresource.com/product/ElementO/002169/1238631612-1818984
I do recommend NOEO, but I have never tried BJU.

I use their catalog to find good read alouds for the kids. I love looking through it, but it would be too much for me too! I tweak everything too much for SL to work for me.

just for what it's worth...a few other items that are toxic to dogs:
onions
chocolate
macademea nuts
grapes
raisons
those are the ones I know about. I love dogs and just thought I'd share this knowlegde just incase.
again, I sure do hope Milo will be fine.

I've heard the same thing about Xylitol. I sure hope he is okay. My thoughts and prayers will be with you.

I used to get up and make him breakfast and a lunch to go...make coffee and all that. Now, we have a Keurig coffee maker so need to make the coffee and since the last baby (3 years ago). he gets up and makes his own breakfast and even makes the kids their breakfasts if they are up (goodness I love that man).
I am up by 7 am. We don't usually go to bed at the same time, unless, like someone else noted, TEa is invloved.;)

I am so sorry for your loss.

the gardisil vaccine? when we lived in florida, we had a wonderful large-homeschool family dad as our family doctor and he advised against it for now.
now that we've moved to pa, our doctor (who has been my in-laws doctor for years, but i don't know him at all) strongly recommends it....because his sister died of cervical cancer.
then i just watched this:
and man, i really don't want my girls to get this vaccine.
do i stand up to the current doc? find a different one? relax and just let them get the shot?
my 3 girls are 18, almost 17 and almost 13.
we vaccinate for most everything... My daughter will not have this vaccine while she is in our care. When she is an adult and living elsewhere with her own insurance...she may do what she wants.

I bought one at Christmas time. I was in need of the largest one I could get. This is what I found. I love it!

Hopefully that link works. I found it very hard to find much out there these days. I hope this helps.

I find it sad when a mother won't let her kids be their age. I also find it sad when mothers or fathers live through their children...whether it be a stage mother or a mother who gets mad because her little prodigy isn't up to her expectations all the time. Actually, i feel very sorry for any child who might think that their parents love or approval depends on their ability to do anything at all.
Thats it for me. I need to go hug my kids just for the fun of it.

Call after 9:00am.
:iagree: call after 9, their time!

I have two all time favorites:
1. The Cremation of sam Mc Gee by Robert servive.
" There are strange things done in the midnight sun
by the men who moil for gold; ......"
That one is really long and my dad taught it to me...I love it!
2. Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night by Dylan Thomas.
It makes me cry every time.

I avoid walnuts. They give me headaches. If I had a bunch of them, I'd probably get rid of them ASAP. Probably donate them to the local church. ;)
Aw, the walnuts feelings are now hurt a little.;)
-
If you had a ton of walnuts to use up...what would you make?
-
No!
Way too young...nothing good would come of that..
at 17 we can talk.

I have not read all the replies...next, I am Catholic...although raised by atheists....all I can say is run away as fast as you can! I would not let that woman near my child! That is just too creepy! That blog post was scary!
I am so sorry that you have to go through this with her and with your children. I would not let any memeber of my family near that family...I would cut ties.
anyway, that is my 2 cents. good luck to you!

For our our dogs, even snow fence works fine.
little critters aren't a problem here bacuse we have dogs....dogs kill the little critters etc...
deer and moose can be a problem here...don't really have any good suggestions for that.

I love mine! I have cooked pot roast in it and quite a few other things. We spend the summer in Maine so we are not in the tropics or anything either. I cannot recommend them enough. In summer power outages they are wonderful too!
You just need to have a black cooking pot to cook in, and mine came with large plastic bags to keep all the heat in.

Oh thanks Colleen! These sound yummy and now on tonight's to do list!
I have received the annual slap-in-the-face birthday card.

I am so sorry, what jerks!
My ILs don't seem too bad now...but I find this story rather funny...I am over being mad.
At our wedding, MIL got all her kids together (daughters were our flower girls) and had our wedding photgrapher take a family photo...She made sure it was just her family....Dh, MIL, FIL and DH's sisters...not me....
That photo hangs in their living room. About 10 years later they asked for a wedding picture of DH and me. We haven't "found" one yet. I have no intention of ever finding one.
