  1. We've been using CHC's spelling and Language of God grammar series this year, and although I love their philosophy of short lessons and all, my kids and I have not loved either of those series. Especially the spelling. The words are beyond easy. It's nice that they incorporate Church doctrine and Saint stories, etc., but my oldest is getting words like "track" in his 5th grade speller. I've been pleased with their readers and their handwriting books though.
  2. Thanks everyone. I was thinking that my oldest could do HO mostly independently while I did SOTW with the younger two. He's already been through SOTW Ancients once, so I'd rather not have him have to do it again. Would that really be too much? What are the overlaps in Language Arts? I'd certainly love to weed out things that I don't need. Would a not-so-academic 3rd grader be able to tag along with an advanced-ish 5th grader on MCT Town?
  3. I have been lurking here for a while and am finally getting around to asking for advice. I've been homeschooling for 4 years now, but the first two were so chaotic (for various reasons) that I still feel fairly new at all this. Would someone please take a look at my curriculum plans and see if I am missing anything and if this looks doable with 3 kids of school age and 3 more little ones? My oldest is some what ahead and the 3rd grader is not a natural academic, so for many things I am trying to combine the 1st grader and the 3rd grader.
