  1. Now that my children are old enough to play interesting board games, I sometimes enjoy playing with them. I love Scrabble, especially, so ds10 often asks for that.

As for imaginary play: No. I don't do it, and I never did. I'm not talking about the occasional picking up of a doll and rocking her or maybe grabbing a lump of Play Dough. I mean that I never played Legos or Playmobil or Barbies or make believe or anything of the kind. I have four children, they're close in age, so there is never a shortage of peers with whom they can play. I am not their peer. I don't mean to sound snotty about it, but I just have no desire to engage in that kind of play with my children on any sort of a regular basis. And nope, I don't feel guilty. :D

  2. I believe that it is. :) Don't worry Anj--there's no troll conspiracy going on...;)

Can I tell you how annoyed I am that my little rofl guy will not show up here?

Now I need my little %#&*@! guy too!

No, no, I didn't think she was a troll. I've just been trying to keep up with the "old" people who have changed their screen names. :p

  3. If I knew the solution, I'd gladly give it to you.

I used to write the Children's Church curric. at my old church.

I put an awful lot into it and I thought it was well done. I got a lot of good feedback, but then when I'd get negative feedback, it really bummed me out.

I guess you really just need to forgive Friend #2 and move on. I think that forgiveness is really at the root of this kind of thing. You feel hurt by her comment and you're not sure what to do with that hurt. If she's your friend, she can't have known that her words would affect you this way. Give her the benefit of the doubt, either reject her assessment or use it to improve your program, and then move on. Refuse to allow yourself to keep mulling over it, because that's when these things take on a life of their own.

Trust me. I'm dealing with a situation right now (different problem than yours) that has the same solution. And I'm working on it....

  4. I just had another talk with dh about this. It seems he's been drinking a lot of coffee lately. Early January his job changed from driving all day to working in the office all day, every day.... and drinking... a lot of coffee... like at least 10-12 cups each day... could be more.

Could the coffee be doing this?

Yes, it could. He should go a day without drinking it to see if his breath improves. If not, I'd look into it medically.

  5. I understand, but my heart stopped when you said DH drove her home, alone. I would have called the cops. Not in this day and age. What a scary, strange morning for you! {{{ hugs}}}

I agree with that. Did your dh have a weapon of some kind? What if she had pulled a gun or knife out of her purse?

I know it's water under the bridge now, but when I read that your husband got in the car with her alone, by stomach went into knots.

I'm glad it worked out and that you're all okay.

  6. I was on a (much needed) board break until Amy emailed me about the new boards. I came back, and was so sorry to see that Abbey and Ria and Peela are not here! When did Peela leave? Did she say anything?

I totally understand, but it's a bummer when people you like and respect disappear.

Well, we'll see what happens. In the words of the immortal Louie DePalma "They'll be back. They all come back. Except one. And I'm still waitin'."

    :D

  7. Yeah, and you know what else?

If people get pneumonia from going outside with wet hair, pharmacies shouldn't sell them medication.

And if people don't know how to park their cars and damage them, mechanics should not be allowed to fix their cars.

And if people get tattoos and then regret the decision, it should be illegal to have them covered or removed.

I know that none of these analogies even fit, because we're talking about food, but that bill is equally ridiculous!

    Please!
