  1. Phonics: OPGTR and ETC Book 3 and 4

    Grammar: FLL

    Writing: WWE

Spelling: AAS or Spelling Workout (waiting to decide until I see these at convention)

    Handwriting: A Reason For Handwriting

Math: Singapore 1A/B (may possibly switch to CLE)

    Science: RSO Life

    History: SOTW, Vol. 1

Geography: Galloping the Globe and Expedition Earth

    Bible: BSGFAA

    Art: Harmony Fine Arts

    Music: voice/piano lessons

DD will be 7 in October, so she'll be an older 1st grader. She is already reading well but struggles with handwriting. What do you think? Does this look about right? Anything you would add or remove?

  2. My "signature scent" is Jessica McClintock. I rotate among others, but this is my all-time favorite!

I also like Pleasures by Estee Lauder and Pure Moment by Alfred Sung. Right now I'm wearing a fragrance from American Beauty at Kohl's that has a lilac/floral scent.

If I ever become wealthy, I'll wear J'Adore by Christian Dior. LOVE the scent, but cringe at the $75 price tag for a small bottle!

  3. I'd start with getting Vitamin D, thyroid, and iron levels checked. My vitamin D levels are really low, and once I started supplementing it, my energy levels have come up a lot!

With a little one, are you getting enough uninterrupted sleep? Are you eating enough, since you are still nursing?

Hope you figure it out and feel better soon!

  4. Do you have a Burlington Coat Factory? They have tons of pretty dresses this time of year, and they're usually under $25-30 for the really fancy dresses, and more like $15 for the regular dresses. I find lots of my girls' dresses here. Also, check Sam's Club, Ross Dress for Less, and TJ Maxx. Ross is hit-or-miss for me, but once in a while I find a fabulous deal!

  5. I'm in the same boat, so I went searching for recipes on allrecipes.com. I made a "Puerto Rican Breakfast Custard" and added a few yolks to the recipe. It was really yummy, but it felt like I was eating pudding for breakfast!

I also saw an idea on Pinterest where you crack an egg into greased muffin cups, then bake and make breakfast sandwiches with ham or Canadian bacon and cheese on an English muffin. The site said they could be frozen easily also.

  6. I'm looking at the Lab Annotations book. It looks like you draw in the directional arrows to get to the solution, for example it shows two diagonal arrows pointing down for the problem 6 ____ = 28.

For the ones that have the arrows drawn in already, you just move one square for each arrow until you arrive at the answer. For example, the very last problem would be 57.

Yikes, I'm not very good at explaining this. Hopefully it will make sense to you!

  7. We are using OPGTR.

I went through the whole book, section by section, and made a list of the Dolch sight words as they appeared in the OPGTR book. I put each section's Dolch words on a page and as we learn them phonetically, we drill those during our morning circle time.

It has worked pretty well so far, although we are not too far into OPGTR.

  8. Background: DD will be 6 in mid-October, so she'll "officially" be a kindergartner this fall. We currently are 3/4 of the way through MEP Reception, which is going okay. She likes the pictures, but isn't fond of the mental math exercises. We also use Miquon on occasion. I think I'd like to keep using both of these as supplements.

I'm 90% sure we're going with Singapore, but I'm confused on which version to go with. Do I get Earlybird or Essentials? And what are the "have-to-have" items?

On the other hand, it would be wonderful if I could use MEP as our main program, since it's free. Is it thorough enough to do that?

I'm also curious about Math Mammoth and CLE math. What can you tell me about these two programs?

Thanks for helping this newbie out! My head has been spinning the last several days as I have been researching and trying to narrow my choices down before convention next month!
