  1. We have had a very positive experience sending our youngest to kindly while the older 2 have been home.

He has his place to shine, not overshadowed by sibs who are bigger, faster, smarter etc.

He has learned more self control there than he had at home and that has brought confidence.

His fine motor skills are way better than they would have been had he stayed at home.

Another benefit is that it has helped our family connect more to other ps families in the neighborhood. That has benefitted my homeschooled kids too.

It is not perfect and we have had grass-is-greener at times. He is in 1st there now and is thriving. His teacher is amazing and has broadened his interests in many ways. We will probably bring him home b4 3rd but in the meantime having him there frees me to focus more on my middle who need me most now.

  2. I would say we spent anywhere from 4 to 8 hours a week outside of class. It depended on the topic and how many sections were assigned for the week. Some weeks there was just one chapter section assigned, other times there were three, sometimes there was one Alcumus topic to pass, other times there were two or three.

This has been very helpful.  How old is your daughter?

My 10yo (almost 11) DD is very good at math and got a perfect score on the AOPS pre-a placement test. Wondering if we should take the plunge and do it online.

  3. I had an umbilical hernia and incisional hernia (c/s) repaired the standard mesh way and both failed. I went to the head of the hernia clinic at the nearest teaching hospital and he did a very invasive surgery that fixed the hernias and the diastasis recti in one surgery. Instead of putting mesh under the abdominal muscle he separated layers and put the mesh inside the muscle and brought the dr together. Now it is fully healed and I have a great result. It was not a tummy tuck so fully covered by insurance.
