  1. But, but, none of those things are potentially poop-related! Or I-pee-standing-up related.

When a nephew of mine was young, he never wanted to wash his hands and his mom would just let him use hand sanitizer. Like, all the time. I told him that did not fly at my house - if your hands touch your junk for any reason whatsoever. you must wash them with soap and running water before touching anything else in the house, lol. It's just . . . no. Wash your hands. In the bathroom.

There is quite literally poop residue everywhere.

I can’t figure out what is so bad about a man touching his penis and then washing his hands.

  2. I called poison control 3x in about 6 months. I was a little worried I was going to be put on some kind of list. 😂

All three were for DS, he was 2-3 years old. Once he sucked on some ibuprofen (they said he would have needed to eat 11 before needing medical care). Another time he sprayed bathroom cleaner in his mouth. And I can’t remember what happened the other time. 😜

  3. I have one little guy, Poonie (I wanted to name him Cootie like the game but my family couldn’t understand me) that lives in my nightstand drawer. He was on top of the nightstand but we’re thinking about selling our house so I’m clearing all surfaces.

Poonie’s parents, Henry and Henrietta are in with my kids’ stuffed animals and I might have a few more in a bin in the garage.

  4. the main substantiated abuse:

Because I couldn't hug him after he was spying on me while I was having a shower, I supposedly made him feel rejected, therefore I caused him long term emotional abuse that he is still having troubles with.

    Wow, that is unreal!

    I’m so sorry. 😢

  5. If he reads a lot, yes. A regular kindle is so much easier to read on. Unless he's reading a lot of stuff with colored pictures or something.

Then for movies a cheap tablet. The Kindle Fire one is pretty good for that, and if you get the kids version comes already locked down.

    I agree with this.
  6. Oh, THAT book. *eyeroll. I upvoted you, Mergath.

Also, while I was there, I saw a book about hsing boys in the suggestions. Didn't click to learn more, but based on the title, the author is probably one of our tribe:

"Homeschooling Boys: Adequate Success with Minimal Cooperation."

OMG. That sounds precisely my speed. 😂😂😂

  7. I had a child who was like this if she ate something with Red #40. She was really sweet most of the time, but if she ate something with red dye she became a little monster.

My dd used to have meltdowns. She would average about 2/week. I took her off gluten (for other reasons) and she never had another meltdown, that was over 5 years ago.

Her first symptom of gluten exposure is unexplained crying, then anxiety, then stomach pain.

  8. a week- week 1/2...some have disappeared with the use of oils...but then more come. It's not like a wide spread rash...it's just a few spots....so weird. I wouldn't worry so much, except the pain....which isn't horrible...but annoying.

Yeah, that doesn’t sound like hand, foot and mouth. My sister and (adult) nicece had it a few years ago and they both said it’s by far the sickest they’ve ever been.

And not molliscum because even if the shape was right, they don’t go away that fast.

    I’ll keep thinking.

  9. I don’t buy them but they could buy them if they want. I only have one teen and she doesn’t drink much caffeine, coffee makes her feel jittery. DS (12) drinks coffee.

For myself, I don’t drink energy drinks because (1) I’m cheap and (2) I don’t want the sugar and I don’t like the artificial sweeteners they use in the sugar free varieties.

If I know I’m going to have a long afternoon/evening I will have an early afternoon cup of coffee and a squirt of b-complex. Works great for me. ðŸ‘

  10. I also have dark circles which seemed to get worse when I lost weight. Just my .02, but I think if you gain weight in your face, the dark circles recede.

My super thin sister -- we're both over 50 -- has also had dark circles since she was a late teen.

I follow Dominique Sachse -- a Houston news anchor -- and she recommends these products (I haven't tried any yet, but plan to and can report back):

    • Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer + Treatment in medium $8.99
    • Colorscience mineral corrector kit, pricey.

Another woman wrote a book called Make Up for Those Over 50 (or something like that). She was a former magazine editor and shared what works and what flat-out won't work. The under eye items she said worked:

    • Cle de Peau Corrector Concealer -- expensive but worth it (she says, not me) I haven't tried.
    • Maybelline New York Cover Stick -- haven't tried.
    • Almay Line Smoothing Under Eye Concealer -- I've used this for about six months. The one piece of advice I found helpful: don't rub the concealor in like lotion. Instead dab it with your ring finger. it's been okay. I'm not wowed. I want to try some of the others above.

    Alley

I recently started using the Maybelline Instant age rewind and I like it a lot. It has good coverage but the texture is light and it doesn’t settle into lines or look heavy. I’m pretty fair and I’m using the lightest color.

  11. I would definitely medal in Having the Most Writing Implements in the Junk Drawer Without Any Being Usable.

I'd love to be out of contention for this event, but that would involve much training in Pencil Sharpening. Which is a weakness not only for me, but for everyone in my family.

I bet I could be in contention for the most “junk drawers†in a single house. I seem to have one in every room.
