  1. I didn't think about doing nature activities alone. Thanks for sharing.
  2. I like your approach thanks for sharing
  3. I live in Belguim. We have examens in grade 6 , grade 8 and grade 12.
  4. Thanks Regentrude Germany and Belguim education system is pretty much the same. I also wasn't clear enough in my first post. I don't know how the math program is in Germany. But in Belguim we also have algebra and geometry in 1 year. So I also need to stretch out Geometry with AoPs algebra books in multiple years. I think Geometry AoPs will take 3 -4 years . It's a heavy book so I hope it will work. The AoPs books are the only math books which DS loves to do.
  5. Thanks for your advice Could you tell me what you did in grade 8 ?
  6. Thanks , Regentrude. Would it be to heavy if we do the books in 2 - 3 years. We live in Europe. And there we have to do Physics, Chemistry and Biology every year . I know in America it's a book a year right ? So basically it will be our grade 8 and 9 planning maby a overlap in grade 10. I am going to edit the titel to make it more clear that we won't finish the books in 1 year. We're we live we have : grade 7 and 8 : general science books ( conceptual very basic Physics, conceptual basic Chemistry and Biology are combined in this books) grade 8 untill 12 we have each year : Biology, chemistry and physics. But the books are not as big as those which I mentioned. We won't use the books from our country because they are very bad written. Basically for Physics we hope that we have done at the end of grade 12: Conceptual Physics by Hewitt and Giancoli Algebra based book. For chemistry Zumdahl stretched out in multiple years.
  7. Dear all, Could someone look with me to our next year planning. DS wants to study engineering. I would love to hear recommendations So far our planning in grade 8 - 10 will be: Math : AoPs Physics: Conceptual Physics Hewitt and How things work Bloomfield. Chemistry: World of Chemistry Zumdahl Engineering: Arduino Programming: Python In my planning I miss labs for chemistry do you have recommendations? I also miss some nice science reading books. We will include field trips .
  8. Dear all, At which grade level or math level would you start with this book ? It seems to be very conceptual with a little math background needed ... We are finishing up Pre Algebra AoPs this summer
  9. Dear all, At which grade level or math level would you start with this book ? It seems to be very conceptual with a little math background needed ... We are finishing up Pre Algebra AoPs this summer..
  10. Thanks Gil. I know that every child is different. But how much time did you spend on Linear Algebra ? I am going to search if this book has worked solutions and corresponding videos on YouTube. I saw that this book is used at our local university
  11. Thanks Gil. I am thinking to do Stewart Calculus when we finished AoPs Calculus (if we have enough time) For Linear Algebra is this the book you are referring to: Linear Algebra and Its Applications, Global Edition https://www.amazon.nl/dp/1292351217/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_FTF1DRVNXT6FVR7BRVKY?psc=1
  12. Can I ask you why you have many Calculus books 🙂? We are doing AoPs I have seen the Calculus books from AoPs (not working with it yet) it's quite thin comparing with Stewarts though. And Linear Algebra don't they teach that at the university? What's the advantage to do it before college?
  13. I live in Europe. I can't find organic wheat or any other wheat, which is very important for us because I always make my own bread. We don't use sunflower oil but because there isn't any sunflower oil people are taking olive oil instead. Which we use a lot. If you can get wheat or oil. You are only allowed to take 2 wheat packages or oil The foodprices are getting very high here as well.
