  1. Have your children enjoyed using Lightning Literature? Would you recommend it? What are the pros? What are the cons? I have been considering purchasing LL7 and a LL British for two of my daughters. Thank you for any info you can share! With joy! Stacy
  2. a 4th child next year. I really like TT. One of my DD has really struggled with math over the years. Trying to explain hard concepts over the years was frustrating, because I was never able to explain things in a way that made sense to her, whereas with my other kids, this was never a problem. She did Saxon with a DIVE cd and that helped a lot, but there were still questions from her. Since she started TT, I cannot remember the last time she needed my help. The way they teach makes sense to her. Yeah!
  3. I was looking for something a little different for my DS who will be in 4th grade next year. A friend of mine had used some science books from Answers in Genesis and said her son REALLY enjoyed them. We are going to do the Inventions & Technology book, which is part of the God's Design for the Physical World series. Since we only do science 2x a week, one book is all we need and I was able to find a used copy. I think I am going to learn a lot from this book, too. The set up is nice.
  4. I love the Pantene products. They are less expensive than salon products and I get the same results as salon products. I recently tried Tresseme (spelling?) daily moisturizing as that is supposed to be a lot like Pantene products, but even less expensive. I like it, but I think I like the feel of Pantene better. I keep both kinds in my shower now, Pantene for days I'm leaving the house and the other for when I'm not... strange I know... but always trying to save a few bucks when I can! :tongue_smilie:
  5. and she really liked it. Her girls are not science oriented, so this was perfect. She also liked having everything at her fingertips in one box. Well, two boxes, as she did both Year one and Year two. I am actually trying to sell her set on Vegsource. I cannot post here since I do not have enough posts to sell, which is a bummer since I've been buying and selling on TWTM for years. OH well.:) I will eventually have enough posts. So anyway, if any of you are interested in my ad, you can email me. Just a thought, in case you're interested in saving some money. With joy! Stacy
  6. If you remember, maybe you could let me know how you are liking it or not liking it in a couple of weeks. ??? I know every child will respond differently, but I am curious how people like it. It seems like a good chunk of money to spend, if no one wants to use it. Thank you for responding! With joy! Stacy
  7. Everyone wakes up at a different time in the morning and I'm okay with that, as long as they meet me at 8am for our Bible study time ... most of the time, everyone has had their breakfast by then. Sometimes not. I'm the early riser and get more done before the kids. I like the quiet house in the morning. we have 6 kiddos, so once they are up, it is quite busy around here! :) After Bible time, they start into the one-on-one tutor times with me and get their school work done. Tutor times are short, for the most part, as the kids are becoming more independent each year. Yeah for me. I do sit later in the morning or early afternoon with a couple of the younger kids to do science and/or history.
  8. I will have to check that one out. I appreciate your comments on the How to Write the Novel Way. It made me think about *how* my daughters prefers to write ... she hasn't done much creative writing, so I will have to give that some thought, too. Thanks! :001_smile: Stacy
  9. I have been looking for any reviews I can find of the book, Learn to Write the Novel Way. Have any of you ever used this? If so, how did you like it? We've been using IEW for some years years now and one of my DD would really like to do something different this next year. She mentioned creative writing. Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you, With joy! Stacy
  10. Hi, Just something to think about... My son finished up Abeka 3 this year. I am switching him over to TT, but didn't know whether to use TT 4 or TT 5. I had him take the placement test for TT 4 and it was all review for Abeka 3. So he will be doing TT 5 next year instead, even though he is a 4th grader. So if Abeka 3 is the same as TT 4, it makes me wonder if Abeka 4 covers the same material as TT 5. Just thought I'd suggest you have your child take the placement test on TT website if you decide to go that route. With joy! Stacy
  11. I've used this with my younger children... it is very story-like and easy to read. With joy! Stacy
  12. My kids are: DS 17 yrs - only has to keep his bedroom clean, take out garbage, and keep the downstairs bathroom clean, since he is the one who primarily uses it. He used to do more, but with post-secondary school and work, he doesn't have as much time. He started his first meal clean-up at 5 years, like all the rest of my children. DD 15 yrs - she currently does kitchen cleanup after supper every night. She also has a zone in the house which is her responsibility to keep tidy. And once a week on our cleaning day, she cleans more thoroughly in her zone and helps out anywhere that needs help. She gets paid for doing laundry. $1 a load (wash, dry, fold, put away). She also started out with breakfast cleanup at age 5. DD 12 yrs - she currently does lunch cleanup everyday. Like her sister, she also has a zone to keep clean. She also gets paid for doing laundry. She also started out with breakfast cleanup at age 5. DS 8 yrs - he currently does breakfast cleanup. He also has a zone. DS 4 yrs - he will be 5 by the time school starts in the fall and he will be assigned his first household chore. Right now he just helps as needed, picking up toys, clothes, vacuuming stairway, sweeping, dusting. DS 2 yrs - he makes most of the messes! With joy! Stacy
