Anne Van Fossen has made learning Latin so joyful this year. My DD is a big fan (and she was NOT a fan of her prior Latin classes)! It seems, at least by reputation, CLRC is less intense than Lukieon, but I don’t have any personal experience with the latter.
How many hours a week did you dd spend on Latin?

We have the Thule 5 bike rack. It’s very sturdy, we use it for hauling bikes for Boy Scouts camping trips each month and it does really well off road and long distance.

And doesn’t waiting until high school to start algebra creates a bigger race? Why not start early and go slowly and deeply instead of waiting until 9th grade and then rush over topics on a superficial level?
All these kids taking summer courses, what are they really learning/retaining? My DS is taking precalculus at a CC over summer. Let me tell you how little it covers. 😞 We would have never considered this as proper learning, only this kid has worked through AoPS Intermediate Algebra and half of AoPS precalculus, so his summer course is basically just so we could have a proper documentation (he needs it for school). Now we are going to put kids into the situation where this sort of rushed summer learning becomes a norm? This is what I’ve observed in my area. When Algebra was mandated for 8th grade. The more competitive high schools decided as a response to create one semester math classes, so their students can get to Linear Algebra and Differential Equation by senior year. This inevitable caused more students who would have benefited from year long courses to drop out of advanced math because they couldn’t keep up with the pace.

Wow, thanks for posting this. We have been trying to figure out why dh has reactions to GF foods.

Superfeet insoles. Dh walks 10 miles per day and Superfeet insoles are his go to, you can use them in almost any type of shoe.

Is gas hard to find? What is it about?
Gas is not hard to find, but ever since the pipeline hack, prices have been steadily creeping up, plus CA switches to a summer blend every spring, which is more expensive.

Gas, in San Diego. Filled up last night, $4.73 per gallon 😱

Go. You never know what will happen.
My dd was in a similar situation this spring. She accepted an offer from job A and then interviewed for job B. Job B was supposed to be part time and we were not sure it was the right fit, before the interview. After the interview, job B like her so much, they came back with an offer that beat Job A.

This is very real CA, they are trying to reimagine Math. They have been trying to take advance math from students for years now. My dn was able to test into geometry in 7th, but by the time her sister got to 7th pre-algebra was the highest math class. Now the Board of Education wants to keep kids together until 10th grade, then separated kids into advanced classes for 11th grade. Here is a link to the math framework CA is look to adopt https://www.cde.ca.gov/ci/ma/cf/documents/mathfwchapter1.docx

We bought my ds a graphing calculator this year for his calculus class, but he has never used a calculator for his math classes before calculus. It’s good for them to workout the calculations. My dd had quite a few math classes at the university that don’t allow calculators.

It is sad. I also know that in the mid-80's that I was wearing a keffiyeh that was given to me my dear friend (and current UN ambassador) while I was out for a walk in Sherman Oaks, and I was very nearly run down by people who must have taken it as a political statement on my part against Israel. That keffiyeh remains folded in my closet.

When my dh flew internationally in the 80’s, his parents had him and his siblings wear a Christian cross. They were afraid of all hijackings and violence against Jews.

I’d never heard of this provider before, but the American History course says 120-150 hours per semester. A that seems a bit high to me, but then again, I’ve heard of people spending 10 hours a week on some other classes, so maybe not?
It seems high for a non AP class. I can see a student spending that amount of time for AP USH.

That’s a lot for an online class. We have a private school in our are that offers classes to part time students and is around the same price point, but 3000 is for a whole school year, not a semester. The classes are 8 to 1 student/ teacher ratio, it like small group tutoring.

Columbia has women’s cargo pants. They have lots of pockets, I use them when I chaperone my son’s Boy Scout camping trips.

I am looking for a high school Latin class for my ds13. He is really excited to start Latin. Both classes look good, I just not sure which one to go with. He will likely take AP Latin later on. What is the workload of the classes? Lukeion looks like a heavier workload. He’s taken CLRC literature classes, so we are leaning towards CLRC because he knows the format, but I’ve read good things about Lukeion.

I am looking for reviews of FLVS. What are the classes like, is it videos, is there an instruction you can contact for questions? My son is interested in starting Latin. I am considering going through FLVS, because they are UC a-g approved. Or you would recommend another provider?

Thinkwell’s Honors Physics is Calculus base. I added additional problems from Halliday’s Fundamentals of Physics for extra challenge.

It didn’t seem like a full class. I don’t know how to put that in words. It was mostly a lecture. The teacher talked through the entire class time lecturing and that was it. I think maybe up to 10 problems were assigned on textbook publisher’s site. It didn’t feel like a class. We could have just as easily watched any number of YouTube lecture series and used the same free publisher’s website.
I don’t know if this was particular to this course (non AP physics) or teacher. But we haven’t looked at them ever again. I would love to see more reviewers because I don’t want anybody basing their decisions based on just my lonely experience. This was the impression I got after talking to Areteem about their AP Physics course. The video demo was just the teacher lecturing. When I ask about student teacher interaction in class, they said that students can text questions and there was a discussion forum to ask questions after class.

BlsdMama, where have you heard that "they" are working to lower the age of consent? Lower it to what, and where? Who are "they"?
California has started by changing penalties for adults who have sexual relations with minors. So a 24 year old can sex with a 15 year old with no penalties.

My son would spend hours with snap circuits at that age. He had several kits, they come with directions and pictures. Marble Run, Legos, and Think Fun games are also great.
