  1. I just copied this from my blog and changed hubby's name to dh. I'm not bashing my husband. I am supporting him through this nightmare.

This is going to be short, to the point, and detail-free, as I only have an hour of computer time at the library.

Tuesday morning, we were awakened at 7:30 by pounding on the door and shouts of, "FBI!" They took dh outside and wouldn't let him back in the house. I got KJ up, dressed, and sent him to the neighbors. 7 FBI agents swarmed the house. They had a search warrant and took all the computers, disks, flash drives, etc...including the one I take with me to teach at preschools. Dh was subsequently arrested for "online solicitation of a minor." KJ and I are devastated.

I bailed dh out of jail yesterday evening and he and I have had some l-o-n-g talks. (I had taken KJ over to a friend's house and they took him on to fencing.) I am choosing to believe my husband and stick with him until the trial. I still love him more than anything. He just did a very, very stupid thing. In the long term, who knows? If anything comes out, (other than what I already know), as evidence is processed, KJ and I will be gone.

Dh is a broken man. He is sorry, ashamed, and embarrassed. His first words to me were that he would sign whatever I needed to get a divorce, that I could have everything including all his 401k money. Oh yes, he was also fired yesterday after the FBI contacteded his employer so they could search his work computer.

Keep us in your thoughts and prayers,

    Rebel

  2. Can someone please direct me to a decent online template if one exists? I found one that was awful and am looking for something more professional looking. I looked into buying Transcript Pro, but dh said he could create one just as good for free. As you may have guessed, dh has not had time to make one for me. I really need to get a transcript done for ds's dual high-school enrollment at the local CC this year.

    Thanks in advance!

  5. Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas

I majored in music education. Both the education and pre-med programs are great.

I liked the small size of the campus and class size. I don't remember every having a TA except for labs. Wichita Falls is a medium-sized city (110,000) and fairly safe. The college is a good price if you are a Texas resident.

I grew up in Wichita Falls so I was living at home the first two years and married the last two so I can't speak about the dorms, but I heard that weren't very nice. Some people say the math department is too hard. Lots of students end up taking the same math class several times before they pass. (I wasn't one of those.)

  6. Ds went to his first overnight camp at SeaWorld in San Antonio two summers ago. I did not know anyone who had been so I called and grilled the education department there. I can tell you that the staff there are even more anal and overprotective than I am. :-) I should also mention that ds called home a couple of times that week for MY piece of mind. He returned to SeaWorld for the Career camp last summer, and once again had an awesome experience.

He is currently away right now on a week-long camping trip with the Fort Smith Mountain Men out of Georgetown. For this one, I asked for references and contact information for parents who had sent their children. They are not allowed cell phones with this group so I won't be hearing from ds...which is a little hard. If he like this trip, we're going to send him on their Alaska trip this summer. It is 32 days...I'll be going slowly crazy.

  7. My ds has been fencing for three years. He loves it! We recently changed from a laid-back homeschool fencing class to one based at our local university, because ds felt he was not being challenged or progressing. He has his own equipment and I also recommend Blue Gauntlet for equipment. He has just decided to become competitive so now we have to buy all the electrical gear too. Luckily, fencing gear is reasonably priced. Another one of ds's activities started as an off-shoot of fencing. He participates in Renaissance re-enactment fighting. The fencing stuff is real, but the swordplay is choreographed stage fighting. (Somebody did get stabbed in the leg once though...)

  8. 1. I nearly died from blood loss when I was 27.

    2. I find it very relaxing to take exotic animals for walks.

    3. I have visited with Dr. Phil and Robin at their home.

    4. While on a hike with my 2 year old son, I got lost and had to carry him for hours through rugged bear-infested country.

    5. I met my husband when his motorcycle broke down near my apartment complex.

#1 is false....I was 23 at the time, not 27.

#2 is true - I'm a docent at the zoo.

#3 is true - Before he was famous and when they lived in Wichita Falls, my family was invited to a few parties at the McGraw house.

#4 is true - We lived in Pennsylvania at the time.

#5 is false - Hubby hasn't had a motorcycle in years.

  9. These are great! Here are mine.

  10. 1. As a kid my uncle took me drag racing down the I-5 through LA at speeds of 100 miles-per-hour

    2. I shared a subway ride home from the 76 World Series pinned in-between a lady of the evening and her manager (both dressed in that 70's classic Shaft style).

    3. Had to walk six miles to a gas station in the southern New Mexican wilderness after running out of gas, thankfully it was at night.

    4. I won a state level ice skating competition but broke my ankle so I could not go onto the Nationals.

    5. Spent a few nights sleeping on the floor of a mall bookstore. It was cold and hard.

    Wow, these are hard!

    I think #1, #2, and #3 are true.

  11. 1. I can juggle any three items you hand me....balls, peanuts, records, kittens.

    2. It took five colleges for me to get my B.A., and two more to get my PhD ABD.

    3. My college roommate and I (UCLA) married two other former college roommates (University of Dallas)

    4. I can peel a banana with my toes.

    5. I once spent the night hiding at Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences library.

#1 would be AWESOME, but highly doubtful

    I choose #2, #4, and #5

  12. 1. I once worked a summer (our winter) in Antarctica as a cook.

    2. My husband served aboard an icebreaker (ship) in Antarctica.

    3. I was the President of the Altar Guild in (Espiscopal) high school.

    4. My father won a gold medal in the 1968 summer Olympics.

    5. My ex-husband remarried and has four children with his wife.

    I vote for #1, #2, and #4

1 and 2 go together and 4 seems sooo unlikely that it just might be true.
