I will admit to eating pre-packaged salad most nights. Dh likes the one that is iceberg, romaine, and purple cabbage. I prefer a larger mix of greens. I do add cheese and tomato usually. Dressings on the side.

I haven't read all the replies, but what I did might be a contender for first place, maybe?
I'm seriously embarrassed to post this, and I'm doing so to make you feel better, lol.
I once locked my (somewhere between six and nine month old) son (the younger one) in the car in the parking lot of the pediatrician's office!! I locked him in then went around to the back of the car to get him out for the appointment. Then I had to go inside and tell them. There was a fire department next door and they came to help. It was warm weather, and they were contemplating breaking the glass. He wasn't stressed and slept through the whole thing, except right before they got him out when he began to fuss a little bit. They didn't end up breaking the glass, though.I was sick to my stomach, felt like the stupidest mother of the earth, and was sooooo ashamed and embarrassed of myself. You better believe I was never careless about that again.
It wasn’t a car but I accidentally locked myself out of the house with my 6 month-old lying on the floor napping. We were between houses and “house-sitting” for a friend. I took out the trash not realizing the door to the garage was set to automatically lock. Luckily I was able to call DH at work and he drove 20 minutes to the house to let me in.

but I know I’m just being hard on myself.
Today I took DD1 to musical theater but completely forgot DD2 had cheer practice tonight. It was 3 hours late that I remembered. Cheer is completely new for dd2 so I feel like every practice is super important. Ugh!
Share your stories of times you just blanked on something. It’ll make me feel better 😀

We were always minimal cookie sellers and I would never expect cookies sold by other girls to be credited to mine. I always made sure the girls understood our limitations (no door to door selling neighborhood and no nearby relatives) and that others would likely sell many more than them.
I would be the mom telling the leader that such a thing is not right even if it benefits my girls because to me it is not honest. You are misrepresenting the work each girl has done.

An update of sorts....MIL is coming later this week for a 2 week visit so DH is going around telling everyone WE need to declutter and put things away. (This is true but not as dire as he makes it sound. )
This morning he asks me “Where does DS’s ear case go?” In this case ears means hearing aid and cochlear implant processor.
Me: “Which case?”
Him: “The blue one” (I knew this one had been put on the hutch as well)
Me: “It stays in the pool bag.” (This is our waterproof otterbox)
I later find it on the kitchen counter. I may lose my mind before this visit is done.

DH just picked up the ziploc with sunscreen from the hall bench and put it on the dining room hutch while muttering about how people just leave stuff laying around and never put it away. Now I’m off to return the sunscreen to the pool bag where it belongs.

The only thing I could think of that I wanted was cookware that was Not Nonstick. I ended up with 3 different sets but the winning set was picked by DH and my kids. It was the only one that didn’t have some type of nonstick coating on it. I was impressed by his listening skills.

I got a Cameo3 for Christmas. This is the first cutting machine I have ever had. What are the Hive’s favorite uses for this machine? Any good places for a beginner to learn the ins and outs? I’m excited but feel a bit overwhelmed like when I got my Instapot.

I might have to try these. I have yet to go to Whole Foods in our new location. Too bad others in my household don’t tolerate cranberry well. Otherwise this seems like something they’d like.

I have 2 of the Biddefords are both work very well. One I have even washed and it still worked. I am very particular about how I cared for them.

If you can’t get there for some reason, most Navy bases have programs for single sailors and do holiday meals/activities. Have him check with MWR or the USO. It has also been my experience that leave during the homiday stand down is either the week or Christmas or the week of New Year so that forces rotate and jobs are manned. Maybe he can take New Years leave and celebrate a late Christmas with you.

I currently live on Oahu. It is gorgeous here. While there is the big city feel of Honolulu there are so many other out of the way places to see. The Arizona Memorial is supposed to open back up in March. I love it here. It is a lot different than Florida (at least the upper part near where I grew up).

I asked for not non-stick cookware for Christmas. The coating gets messed up and I’d rather just have something I don’t have to worry about using metal utensils or scrubbing. My dh’s aunt bought a set that while not the typical “teflon” type coating still advertises as non-stick. I know nothing about these but it appears they are ceramic coated. Does anyone have experience with these? Will they scratch up like the ones I am replacing?

We always do a simple soup and bread bowls for Christmas Eve. But we don't have a real tradition for Christmas day. I am leaning towards all appetizers, but I'm worried that there will come a point when we all look around and say "what's for dinner". My dh is deployed this year, so I want to keep things very simple but also special for my two kids at home. Maybe a small ham with some mashed potatoes from the freezer section (is there such a thing? I really don't want to peal and boil and smash potatoes, but I am morally opposed to potato flakes...) along with some easy finger foods.
When my dh was deployed over Thanksgiving one year I let each kid pick a dish. We ended up with pancakes, mashed potatoes, and pie.

Day 11: Pronouncing place names in my new home. I already struggled because if my southern US pronounciation while in the mid-atlantic US but this is a new level of uncomfortable. I keep thinking people are going to laugh or just stare at my incredibly inaccurate pronunciation.
