  1. Thank you, Robin for the uplifting and reassuring words. I am working in finding a suitable therapy that might work for him. My DD13 and I are studying Ancient Greece right now, so for myself, I saved a few books on my TBR shelf to read. I'm looking forward to picking these up over the next few weeks... Ariadne by Jennifer Saint The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller ohhh Somg of Achilles is AMAZING!!! I did that one on Audio. It crushed me. I sobbed like a baby. Such a beautifully written book, but very sad.
  2. Happy Sunday!!! I have 2 books finished for the year. Five Tuesdays in Winter and. The convenience Store Woman. Five tuesdays I listened too in Audible. Short story collection and I loved it! The Convenience Store Woman. This is a very short novel about a woman who worked in a gas station and about her just being a little odd. Either I dont get translated books or this book is just really awful, but when i read the last word all i said was WTHeck was THAT?! It had raving reviews and i just dont get it. We received an ASD 2 diagnosis for my 5 year old last week. So most of my reading this week will be about that. I am still processing and I know the journey is long. I do have a few graphic novels that I got from the library too.
  3. I am sorry you feel defeated. I am not sure what your situation is, but i clicked it because just last night I was reading hte cdc website about long covid and wondering. She too is feeling frustrated, sad and angry, II am just really learning about it. Chandi

  5. I tried doing a search for this, si I apologize if this is a frequently asked question. Are the social forum still active? I see one that I would love to join, but have no clue how to get the password or join?? thanks!!
  6. Happy New Year! I had to stop and process Robins comment about this being the 14th year. I couldn't believe it. Then I remembered my now 24 year old was young when it all began. I've been in and out of this group as life changes have fluctuated through the years. My youngest 3 are now older and I think I can try to keep up now!! In 2020, I only read 17 books. In 2021, I nearly tripled that number. I finally decided that reading is what I love and I would stop making excuses that I don't have time. I found audiobooks and that seems to work the best for me most of the time. I can put on the book and clean or do whatever I need to do. In the car has also worked wonderfully. I will be going back to school myself this winter/spring studying Library and Information Services. I am SO excited!!! The most recent reads of mine are The 7 husbands of Evelyn Hugo. That is an amazing audiobook and crushed my soul, while making me smile. Great story about love and what we will do for love and what love really is. I am currently listening to Five Tuesdays in Winter, by Lily King. I am not much for short stories, but this intrigued me. I was delighted to find that the audiobook was included in my Audible plus catalog. Unusual as this is a new release. This book is amazing. Lily King is a new to me author and definitely one I will be seeking out more. Next in line will be Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata. Another new author for me. Was available for my kindle with no wait from my library. I will also be reading The midnight Library as a group read starting January 16th. Im excited for that as well. Speaking of Goodreads, Can someone teach me how to link to my account, should anyone want to follow and or be friends?? I will try to get in on the life of crime! Definitely something I love to read about. OK, thats all for now. Its nice to be back "home" and enjoy some great books together!! Chandi
  7. I always seem to start the year with many goals and then mid year life gets in the way. Having 8 kids at home, all with varying social lives and needs, reading seems to be the thing that get thrown to the back burner. Audiobooks seem to be the way for me right now. I listened to 20 books last year, although I think I’m missing a few and updating good reads isn’t something I’m very good at. I read a lot more non fiction and psychological thrillers then in the past. Tarryn Fischer was an author I found and enjoyed a few of her books. I finished The midwife of hope river. I love a good birth story so this book was right up my alley. I also finished the woman in cabin 10 by Ruth Ware. It was a painful listen. I probably won’t read anything else by her. Not sure what I will read next, gathering my want to reads. Can you believe I’ve never read Nora Roberts?? Maybe I’ll try her out!!
  8. I also just finished becoming. Amazing story telling. Loved the discriptions of the white house and what traveling as a first family was like.
  9. I've sent a few friend requests via good reads! My friends your good reads shelves are amazing. And completely overwhelming. I think I just need to sit down and fiddle with it a bit more. I'm also learning that I can't do as much on good reads from my kindle paper white as I can on my desktop. I'm still working on 3 books. 1) women's murder club I think number 12, the book thief and handmaids tale. Chandi
  10. Hello long lost friends! Life has been a whirlwind for a few years but settling down now. My goal for this year is to just open a book. I finished Midwifes Confession. Working on The hand maids tale, the book thief (a reread for me) and book 12 of the women's murder club. Speaking of children's books we loved as kids, I loved the babysitters club books. Loved them
