I'm thinking of doing this in a couple of years (high school math).

Yes, take him. The stings could be infected, even if he hasn't been scratching. It happened to me a week ago and I am on antibiotics as well as antihistamines.
ETA: get a sharpie and dot the outline of the affected areas -- then in a few hours you can see if it has changed for better or worse.

I'd like to order a stationery store, with a focus on Japanese stationery products. Maybe with a small coffee shop/bakery inside.
Or a detective.
Or a judge.
Or get paid for napping.
Oh my goodness...another mom with a love of Japanese stationery products. Opening a store would be great but to make it better, catered meals would be brought in every day.

I'm so sad. My mom (now 79) went on a double date with him when she was a teen or maybe her early 20s.
Here's a link to Wichita Lineman performed before that terrible disease took him away. :(
RIP Glen.

At the end of this past school year I quit several major activities. It feels *great* even though I won't see my friends as much as before.

Just wanted to add...the drive up and down the coast takes a lot longer than it would appear to take based on a map, so plan accordingly. You have some great suggestions here!

For Shakespeare, I love Macbeth and then Hamlet.
If you are only doing 6 a year you may have to take into account whether you have a son or daughter. For a girl, I would include Pride and Prejudice or Emma - but my boys were not fans.
Great Gatsby
And then so many ideas come crowding ...
It is for a daughter. She has not been a very enthusiastic reader until now.

You might find chapter 27 in the 4th edition of The Well-Trained Mind helpful. SWB says this about the number of books to read: "Try to make a realistic assessment of how many books the student will be able to cover in the course of a year. Eight books is a minimum; twelve is better; eighteen is stellar."
If I had to choose 6 per year, for a total of 12, I would choose the following:
1. Homer, Iliad and Odyssey. Well, that's technically two, so if I had to choose one of those, I'd choose the Iliad.
2. Plato, The Republic.
3. Virgil, Aeneid.
4. Beowulf.
5. Dante. The Inferno.
6. Chaucer, The Canterbury Tales. (selections)
7. Shakespeare, a play of your choice.
8. Jane Austen. Pride and Prejudice.
9. Charles Dickens, Oliver Twist.
10. Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Scarlet Letter.
11. Henry David Thoreau, Walden.
12. W.E.B. Du Bois, The Souls of Black Folk.
Thank you! I just pulled the six per year out of my head...I think we could do more. Some have already been covered...Iliad, The Scarlet Letter, and we're not finished with The Odyssey.

How many books per year?
I hadn't thought about it but I think six per year would be about right.

If you had two years to read classics/Shakespeare, which titles would you choose? (must include Dante's Inferno -- I have had a specific request for that.)

The beginning of Saxon Alg 2 (first two lessons) contains a *lot* of geometry, just to warn you. It seems to be an entire review of the geometry covered in Alg. 1. However, your student will get a lot of practice with it throughout the course. Don't let those first two lessons scare you off!

Double check this list against the WUE list - I think most of these are WUE. They have Geology programs.

Taking logic prior to 8th grade may be too early. You're fine.

I don't know a lot about it but had the impression that illegal opioid drugs (stronger than from the pharmacy) were the cause of the spike in deaths.

Every time my detailed weekly plans change and get scrapped. This year instead of plans we will have a 1-page syllabus for each course and highlight it as items are completed.

The lint trap is easy - love it.
The knob can be turned between settings.
I haven't noticed a soak cycle but that doesn't mean there is not one.
The water does not fill if the lid is open.
The washer is fairly quiet.
The biggest unexpected plus for me is the dryer. It actually dries clothing in one cycle and the clothes can sit for a while without wrinkling. My previous dryer never got clothing dry the first cycle and my clothes would wrinkle horribly.

I have had my new SQ washer and dryer for a couple of months now -- basic older models with knobs, not digital display. Love doesn't begin to describe how I feel about them. I never imagined I would enjoy laundry but I do now. I call them my maid and butler.

This sounds like a good time to take a gap year, work a part-time job, take a few CLEPs and establish residency in CA. The credits he would receive in NC might not even transfer.
