My dd is planning to take the ACT; however she must also take a math SAT2 test. Would using standard SAT math prep be best for this or are there other resources? The only thing I have found is a sample on the collegeboard website.
Thanks.

Don't give up the search for scholarships just because you're in college -- many are available to enrolled students. The hard part is finding time to seek them out and apply but it can be worth it.

I love the clear explanations in the textbook for each lesson. I love the way they explain math terminology. I love the way each homework problem has a reference number in parenthesis indicating which lesson number taught that concept.

I love Saxon, especially at the high school level using early editions of the texts. I am on my third time through teaching from the Alg. 2 with Integrated Geometry book and looking forward to teaching Advanced Math in a few months.

My first two were like this and the third gave me a break. Looking back on it... try to enjoy it. So soon they will be teenagers and you will long for those days. :crying:

I just got an IP but have also used a regular pressure cooker for years. The ability to program in a time and let it finish while I do something else ...wonderful. I don't leave the house or anything but I am comfortable leaving the kitchen to do laundry for example. With the regular pressure cooker I stay right there next to it. I am still learning its uses and am by no means an expert but so far so good.

I will second the Tana French recommendation and add Harlan Corben (gritty + humor). And of course, The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield, from which I take my screen name.

I will stay involved--I have no choice! The ps sends folks to me all the time--I get the phone calls from women at their wit's end looking for tutors or co-ops, etc. Heck, I even get calls from the sheriff, hoping that I can help them arrest someone for hsing! I get the phone calls from social services, looking for socialization opportunities for kids who have been expelled. Let me see. I'll just whip up a whioe LIST of moms who are looking to hang out with your druggie kid!

Sometimes the food "bribe" needs to be something they like a *lot* like little pieces of cheese. You could also jog before breakfast so your dog is a little hungry...that way a treat of regular dog food is likely to get a response.

My physics teacher, who invited students to star-gazing events at his house (sitting on the roof), AP English teacher with such enthusiasm for literature and writing, and Geometry teacher who made it so interesting, and finally my chemistry teacher, Mrs. Smith -- a real dynamo! I guess I had some great teachers.

I would opt for Thinkwell or something like it. It sounds like 8 a.m. would be difficult, and I suspect the evening class would be also since you would be driving in the dark and almost certainly disrupting your evening routine. Math is particularly suited to online learning.

The Great Courses Plus has some very interesting material....Bob Brier on ancient Egypt, a course on the Black Death, etc. ... easily do-able in high school.

Dd got some macaron-shaped erasers at Staples -- I don't know exactly which set she got but it looks like this one.
