  1. TaeKwonDo is a beautiful sport. I did many years as a young adult. It is a personnal favorite!

I don't know anything about Krav Maga, actually I have never really heard about it before...

Proximity is a big factor to consider, it would be far more convenient to drive 5 minutes (or walk) than drive 1 hour!!

I would sign up for TKD.:)

  2. I love the aerobics/zumba classes given at our recreation centre.

There is something about working out with other women with a teacher/leader that makes me surpass myself. I wouldn't push myself as much otherwise. It has become a "must" every day. I also enjoy the companionship.

To answer your question, I go when the kids are in school  or in the evening during the summer. That is not much help, I realize, but I just wanted to encourage you to go as often as you see fit. I think it is fantastic that you are investing in your well being! The kids get fun play time and you keep a great workout, sounds like a winning situation to me!!

  3. Um... do you not have lactose-free dairy?

    My DS7 is lactose intolerant.

"Natrel" makes lactose-free milk; 0%,1%,2% and chocolate milk. "Yoplait" has lactose-free yogourt in a variety of flavours, and I can find about 5 different lactose-free cheeses (mostly from Costco). These products are gaining in popularity. We live in Canada, are you in the States? I don't understand why these products aren't available in the States... demand should be similar but on a much larger scale!

  4. Well...:001_smile:

To me, a "time-out" is useful when the child's emotionnal response to a frustrating event is so high that you cannot reason with them anymore. You simply can't communicate with someone who is in that state.

Off she would go to the time-out area, somewhere close to you but not directly in sight .(Alone in her room is too isolated at age 3.) The ideal of course is for her to be quiet, maybe drawing with her finger in the carpet, no banging in the wall, no yelling. That takes time to learn. Set the rules (be quiet, sit on your bum) and then if they are broken, set a consequence (losing a favorite toy/TV show until supper). Of course it takes time for small children to learn to deal with frustration.

So, I would make sure her world is not too frustrating, try to understand what sets her off before she loses control, send her to time-out when needed with a consequence if she is not quiet. Then, when she is receptive, talk to her about what you expect from her.

    There you go, all fixed!;)

    2 cents, please.

  5. DD outgrew her reflux by age 5.

DS7 still has reflux. Dairy/lactose seem to be his trigger. His symptoms are most often a sore throat 15 minutes after bedtime/laying down. He is on a daily dose of Prevacid for the time being (as Ranitidine in liquid form is not available for some reason).

I suggest a consult wih a pediatric Gastro-enterology clinic. They have the means to test for intolerances. (without being unnecessarily deprived of otherwise nutritious food)

Perhaps consulting Ent as well as his symptoms are within his throat/nose.He says it smells bad, but does he have bad breath, a lot of mucus? Do you think a nasal irrigation would help clear away irritants?
