For Challenge, a little over 1/4 of tuition goes directly to CC corporate, in addition to the registration fees that go to CC corporate,
Only a portion of the Challenge registrations go to CC corporate.

I'm collecting orders and money for a group buy my co-op is doing. People are placing their orders with me and then I'm going to place one large order so we qualify for free shipping and a discount. I'd like to let people pay me through PayPal, but I don't know what kind of transaction to call it. Should I Request Money or Create an Invoice? Should I mark it for goods or services? I've only ever paid with PayPal before, so using it to request money is a new thing for me.

I was a child with an anger problem and a nasty attitude. My mother didn't really know how to manage me and my attitude (mostly) dominated our household. I have a brother who still resents the experience (but that's another subject).
This is one thing that's hard for me. My difficult child is ruining his relationship with his brothers. :crying:

It's kind of like 2nd hand cigarette smoke huh? There is no escaping it...even in the non-smoking section.
I got a terrible headache on Palm Sunday because someone sitting behind me at church smelled strongly of cigarettes. I kept thinking that I would just get used to the smell and could deal with it, but instead I felt worse and worse as the service went on.

That means that you can't do two years and transfer your credits to Clemson, the way that you *could* if you attended Oklahoma Baptist University and wanted to transfer to the University of Oklahoma.
Clemson accepts BJU transfer students. (At least they did in the 90s when I was a Clemson student and several friends from high school started out at BJU and transferred to Clemson.)
-
BJU believes that non-Baptist Christians aren't smart enough to understand the True Word of God, therefore they too discriminate on the basis of religion.
Bob Jones isn't a Baptist school. In fact, Bob Jones, Sr. was a Methodist. When I was in high school, the Jones' were members of a Bible church.

Oh and The USC (SoCal) has a highly ranked, multidisciplinary med school. The other USC is not in the same league...literally.:D
I'm a Clemson grad. You'll get no U of South Carolina love from me! However, U of South Carolina's med school is ranked 57 out of 134--solidly in the top half of all accredited MD granting schools in the US.
-
I'm curious about this, because I have to agree with the others. Did they go to medical school in the US? I just can't really see how this would work, especially if you don't believe in microevolution. There's no way you could pass epidemiology without a basic belief in evolution.
USC School of Medicine accepts BJU grads. Apparently they are more open minded than those committees who refuse to even open a BJU grad's application--unless, of course, it's to mock them.
This thread is really beginning to make my blood boil.

THIS!
I also would be very worried about the message my daughter would receive at such a place. They are very patriarchial and controlling when it comes to women.
I went to high school at Bob Jones and have a lot great memories from my time there. I've not said anything so far in this thread because, honestly, I wouldn't send my children there either. However, I have to speak out on this. Bob Jones University, while it has its problems, is not patriarchal. The faculty at all levels is filled with women. There are *gasp* even women who teach in the School of Religion. When someone says "patriarchal" I think of The Dougs, not The Bobs.

I bought mine at Sam's Club. $20.00 for 200 pouches.

I'm headed to Biltmore today! The weather here is gorgeous and the tulips are in full bloom.
Biltmore is on the city bus line and I'm pretty sure there are shuttles available from the front gate for Inn guests. There are shuttles from the Inn to other destinations on the property.

It seems as if our teacher is more concerned that dd be able to move along in her playing, learn new concepts, and have the ability to pick up a piece and work her way through it, than she is with memorization.
Yeah, that's exactly how this teacher feels. However, I want my boys to have a repertoire so they can just sit down at the piano and play--whether for fun, relaxation, or to impress the grandparents. :D
-
How do I help my children build up and maintain a repertoire of piano pieces?
What happens now is each piece is practiced for a week or so, then ignored when they move on to the next piece in the book. They never get to a point where a song is played really well, and once they move on, the older pieces are never played again. Their teacher doesn't offer any guidance because she's "anti required memorization."
If any of you remember my past problems with their teacher: All of my kids are moving to a new teacher in June, but I would like for them to be able to spend the next two months building a repertoire they can take with them.
Any advice or experience welcome.

Actually, it is my understanding the movie is less gory than the book. No real gore at all in the movie.
I would disagree. It's not a blood bath, by any means, but there is stabbing and neck breaking--very visual images that could disturb a child.

I totally believe something like this could happen. I had an over-zealous nurse threaten to call DSS concerning my 36 hours old son because she didn't agree with the pediatrician's directives. Yes, she didn't agree with the doctor and was going to report me to social services.
She told me, "We call DSS on people like you." Another doctor quickly chastised her and no one called DSS, but it was a tense (and tear filled) few minutes. My pediatrician called me at home a few days later and apologized and told me that his office and the hospital were meeting to put a new policy in place to prevent a situation like mine from happening again. It was horrible and was very close to turning into a story like this.

If someone is scared of them that is their problem not my children's.
 It is your children's problem if someone pulls out his gun and shoots them because he is scared.

I live in Greenville and had no idea.
Is this the convention that only supports Protestant suppliers? If so, I think I saw a thread on it weeks ago and that may be why I'm not going.
I'm going to looky right now. Lol.
Here is the convention philosophy. It doesn't sound like they exclude Catholics.
You may be thinking of the "Teach Them Diligently" Conference that was in Spartanburg last week. Vendors who sold Bible curriculum were required to sign this statement:
The Bible is the plenary, verbally inspired Word of God. It is our final authority for faith andpractice and is without error.

Who's going to be at the Great Homeschool Convention in Greenville this week? Should we try to meet up?

Papa was the youngest of nine children. He outlived all of his siblings by at least 20 years (he was 100--he outlived lots of people!). He was always fond of saying, "I'm the only one left." I think that is why my in-laws wrote the obit the way they did. Still, it sounds strange to me.
-
The reason I ask is that my DH's grandfather's obit says, "He was the last surviving member of his immediate family." I think it should read "family of origin," but no one asked me for my opinion. The funny thing is the next paragraph is the one that lists all his surviving family members.
Just curious how most people who read his obit would interpret that phrase.

My new ipad3 is here!!! Anyone else hugging their UPS/FedEx man today? :DYes, mine came today as well!! Can't wait to play with it!!
I would love to hear your reviews, especially if you can compare it to the iPad 2. I'm waffling between a refirb iPad 2 64gb for $549 or a new iPad 16 gb for $499 or new iPad 32gb for $599. I can't decide!

What does the term immediate family mean to you? Is there a legal definition for immediate family?
Anyone have the Ikea Extorp sofa or loveseat?

I have the Ektorp 2+2 Corner sofa and really love it. It's held up well under constant abuse from our three boys and two cats. We also have the ottoman and Tullista chair. (I'm not a big fan of the chair, though.)
