  1. I have a binder I use for my menus and shopping lists. What I am wondering is my mom mentioned to me that she has a friend who has the same menu rotation. In other words they have Meatloaf every other Monday, spaghetti every other Tuesday. She has a two week cycle of menus and they always have the same things. This would be much easier as far as planning but I am wondering if my family would wage war against me. Does anyone else use this method?

  2. We use it as a supplement along with AWOA. My girls really like it but even for my dd9 the lessons can be short. Most days we will do a few lessons at a time then find extra resources (ex. books, internet) to beef up what we covered. They are doing the wall timeline and that is their favorite part. The activities included are really good.

  3. Ok, just to update you ladies. Last night was somewhat better but we were still up around 3 a.m. just for a short period. DH got Mucinex will try that today if needed. I did try the honey maybe it worked a little cant really be sure. Today they are sipping on hot tea with lemon juice and honey. Works as long as they are sipping it but no lasting affect. The Dr. said it is the flu and they need to battle it out. As long as no infections start but at this point all symptoms are normal. I will try the vicks on the feet tonight a friend of mine just mentioned this. Thank you all so much for your advice I love this forum!!! Of course right now I would love a good nights sleep better. How much whiskey can I give them? Just Kidding!!

  4. Ok, I have tried everything. Both my little girls are sick and the cough is driving us crazy. None of the over the counter med is working. I have a prescription cough med but it is a narcotic and all it does is knock them out for a couple hours then the cough starts again. Also with this med I can only give it every 8 hours so the last 5-6 hours they are miserable. We have tried Vicks on the chest, hot steam baths...... any other ideas?

  5. Ok we are all very sick! I dont even have a voice right now. It is Wednesday and from the looks of it we will probably miss all week. How do I fix this in our schedule of schoolwork? Do we just finish a week later than planned? Should we play catch up to get back on track? I hate the flu! It has totally derailed us!

  6. don't forget enchanted learning :-)

in addition to the sites above....

My 8yos is doing a bird project for 4-H and I found this on another state's website:

    www.lake.ifas.ufl.edu/4-h/Recordbksanimals/CagedBirds.pdf

It's amazing how much people will help if you're doing something as a 4-H project :)

He set up a fundraiser to get a parakeet, and ended up w/ three free keets and big cage!

I forgot all about enchanted learning. Thanks! Your other link didnt work. Keep the ideas coming. At this rate I'll have an entire nature study for free before we are done. Thanks Ladies!:D

  7. I cant believe you guys did the hanging files. Here I thought I was really smart for thinking of that all on my own! I want to say that it has really worked. No more "Mom wears my...?" and the girls are really motivated by seeing the number chart fill up. We did place our charts on the wall in front of them so they can see how much progress they are making right in front of them. They love it! Oh and so do I!

  8. We eat meat every day. I make three meals every day (including a packed lunch for DH for work). I make most things from scratch. I am pretty good at using up every little thing to make something. We do snack, but I don't buy too many prepackaged snacks. I either make stuff myself, or buy things like cheese, fruits, etc. We do eat fresh fruit and vegetables.

I spend about $120 a week for a family of 4. I find it helps when I plan carefully. I make a menu every week and a shopping list that I stick to. I shop at 3 or more stores to get the best deals on everything I want.

:iagree:I try to plan out my menu for the entire week and make a very specific list. I also use a caculator to add everything as I shop. This has helped alot. I visit different online sites to get ideas on cheap meals. Tonight I have chicken breast in the crockpot with spaghetti sauce. I will probably make some pasta and fresh veggies to go with it. Some kind of bread and homemade dessert. It will come out to be approx. $2.00 a person.

  9. Yes bf'ed babes can go a while but since baby seems uncomfortable... I would start with prune juice -- .5 to 1 tsp. Then if that doesn't provide relief, a pediatric liquid glycerin suppository. They are sold by Fleet pedialax I think. That's different than a fleet pedi enema which I would ask a doc about first.

A rectal temp (w/ ky jelly) might help too. And as you mentioned, warm baths and tummy rubs (in the shape of a ? around the navel).

:iagree: This is what I used. Take the prune juice slow and use baby brand so as not to cause cramping.

I also checked this out from another post. It looks pretty good for American History. I think I am going to stick with Learning Adventures until we finish the series. At the rate we are going it will more than likely be 1 1/2 years to finish AWOA and from what I understand the next two volumes are bigger. The only other one I am looking at now is Wever from Alpha-Omega publishing. I should mention right now we are also using MOH Vol 1 with AWOA just to beef up the history and we also do a nature study to add to science. Other than that we follow it to a tee. An I have to say we are really loving it!
