Music - History of Our Hyms

Ok how do i schedule that for a day and be able to help both girls? we will be doing, Bible Dev. (God and Me) together, also CGC, music, and MOH Vol1 together. That leaves math, phonics, grammar, writing, geography, and spanish and my 9yr old bible study. We would also like to try and find sometime for free and out loud reading. I want the girls to get a great education but I also want it to be fun. This is our first year and I want them to like what we do. I plan on doing all the activities with CGC and MOH Vol1 so it will probably take more than a year to finish these, I'm ok with that. We also love lapbooks and want to include this with Grammar, Bible abd Math. So how do I do all this? How much time should we spend on each subject? Any suggestions!!!

  2. We love our Suburban. It holds 8, but it is an older model, so two of the seats have only lap belts. I think the newer models might offer shoulder straps on all seats. Plus, the newer engines drop two cylinders on the highway, so they get better gas mileage.

:iagree:Ours gets about 18 around town and 25 on highway.

  3. I have found alot of free games online to help. My 6 and 9 year old have found some that they love and think are soooo fun and it's teaching them at the same time. I plan to allow them to play these for a short period after they have finished their math curriculum. We are using How To Tutor so it is very straight forward and no fluff or pictures so I wanted to make sure they still enjoyed their math. I just did a google search for free math games and more than i could look at came up. Hope this helps.

  4. Does anyone know where I can get math vocabulary for helping my daughter do her word problems? She is 9 and good at math but has a problem with word problems. She forgets what the vocab means (ex. sum, difference, estimate). Our budget is pretty much spent so I was hoping for something simple I could just print for free and have her place in the front of her math binder. Thanks!

  5. have you looked at Considering God's Word? I will be using it for my 6yr old and 9yr old. It is well planned with things for older and younger ages. You can go as slow or as fast as you want. We plan to really take our time and it will probably take us about 2 years to finish. But you dont have to do all the activities if you want and it is not that expensive. I bought mine used and paid $15 for it and work pages are included. God Bless!!

  6. I only have to plan for 2 kids but i found a template on Microsoft Works. I will be using a 3 ring binder. I simply list one childs week leesons on one page split by subjects and then the other child on the next page. I am working on doing this now then i will print them out hole punch them and put in binder. I have left extra room for any notes if we dont finish something and need to move things around. I also am going to keep their grades manually. I have a grade log one for each student that i have in the back of the nine weeks lesson plans so i can keep track of grades on a daily or weekly basis. I plan to keep both students in one binder and clean out every nine weeks. It may work better for you to have a seperate binder for each child or do 2 in one. Hope this helps. Good Luck and God Bless!!!

  7. My kids used Abeka in a school they attended. Hated IT!!!! It is a spiral concept which did not work for my girls. It also has alot of busy work and things are done over and over to the point of being ridiculous. Isn't Singapore more of a Mastery concept? I havent used it so I have no opinion to offer on Singapore but i would really look into Abeka before you purchase it. Others may love it but I know my kids hated it even in school. God Bless!!

  8. we will begin this curriculum this year with my 6 year old and 9 year old. I have read the whole book and the way it is set up you could use it with younger and older depending on how in depth you want to go. They have an added Digging Deeper section with each lesson that would apply for older kids. Also you could add research with older children. For my younger child i will be adding drawing and coloring when some of the activities are to above her level. Hope this helps. God Bless!!!

  9. you may want to look at Alpha-Phonics. I havent used it yet but it has great reviews and i have spoken with a few people who have used it and they all say it is excellent! It has no frills or fluff and is very straight forward. Just thought I would mention it. You can check out the web site. God Bless!!

  10. wanted to see if there were any others with advice on this. We are using MOH for history and Considering God's creation for science. We will also be starting Spanish doing an art class and a home ec class. i have extra practice for writing assignments and we will be taking weekly trips to the library. Is there anything else I am missing. I would love some tips from anyone who has used HTT.

  11. Thanks Elizabeth, I just order the program and they now have Extra Large print student text and additional workbooks for all the math and phonics. I am very excited the program seems great and i got all the math and phonics for both kids through grade 6 for $147.00 including shipping. I have found some free resources online to add a little fun and a bit more practice if needed. Cant wait until it gets here. God Bless!!!

  12. How To Tutor or Alpha Phonics by Sam Blumenfeld. They both got very high reviews and if I am reading this correctly it would costs me a little less than $9.00 bucks a child to teach them Math, Rreading, and writing? Anyone know anything about this program? God Bless!!!

  13. Hi, i am new to this forum but when i read your post it really touched my heart. I was in a very similar situation as yours. When my husband and I got married we were not actively involved in church. He did not even know the Lord. I was divorced from a very abusive marriage and not going to let anyone control me. a couple of years into our marriage we both came to know the Lord and strated living out lives for him. The submissive part was the hardest for me also. It took alot of prayer and caused alot of tears. Hear is what I feel God laid on my heart. Is your husband a good man who is living his life for the Lord? Do you trust your husband to make the right decisions based on what the Lord would want? My answers to both of these questions were Yes! I slowly began to turn over control to him and what a relief I found it to be!!! That does not mean that he does and says and acts however he wants without consideration of my feelings and opinions. We listen to each others opinions and come together but I do put alot of trust in what he thinks. I know that he puts alot of prayer into his decisions and lets the Lord lead him. As for the little things, the hardest thing for me to realize was that just because I make his lunch or iron his clothes does not make me his slave or make me less of a person than him. These are ways I show him how I appreciate all that he does for our family.I do believe that this type of marriage will only be successful if both are on board. Our motto is that marriage is not 50-50 it is 100-100.

Now I am sure that there are alot of wives who would disagree with me and that is just fine with me. This is just my personal opinion!!!! Afterall this would be a very boring world if we all thought alike. God Bless!!
