Yes, there is a very enthusiastic recommendation in this thread:

Want to rave about a book on grammar for early years

I recommended it to a friend based on that review, and she has been very pleased.

Thanks! It looks like just what I wanted. My 8yo DS will probably finish FLL 2 before the end of the school year, and I think I'll get this to cap off the year. He is very visual, and gets frustrated with the audio-style learning of FLL 1/2. I'm guessing he will love The Sentence Family.

Wow, some of their other stuff looks really good too, for math and art.

I'm glad to have been of help.

My friend did show it to me, and it looked intriguing. The person in the other thread who said it reminded her of Waldorf had it right.

I hope it will be a good fit for your son!

Just a report here. We ordered the Sentence Family and are using it for the rest of the school year. After the first lesson, he said "Can we do another one? PLEASE??" Wow. I think the only other time I've heard that was when we did Times Tales. :)

We'll see how the retention goes, but so far the process has been painless. I have him recall the part of speech definition from FLL when we introduce a new character. The other day I printed out a list of sentences and had him underline the nouns and verbs. (Blue for nouns, since "Noun" wears blue, and red for "Verb.") He got them all right, so something must be sticking!

There are some clever ideas in here. Such as the black nose on Mr. Declarative's dog to represent a period, Adjective and Adverb drawing pictures of their brothers Noun and Verb, and the lines of the sentence diagrams becoming the children's beds.

Thank you for the update. I'm hoping to get this to use next year for my dd. Are you using it alongside FLL?

I did FLL 2 this year and finished with a month and a half left to our school year, so I got the Sentence Family to fill in the rest of the year.
