Talk to me about history...

I am planning for next year and will have a 12 year old and a 9 year old combined for History.  Give me ideas on what to use, please!  We have used SOTW & MOH in the past.  Looking for something new.  I need easy to use and don't want to have to buy or borrow a ton of extra books in order for the course to be complete.

For US History I have enjoyed reading biographies.  It has been a great way to learn about big figures in history and what was happening at that time.  I have used "Who is..." or "What was..." books also along the way.  My kids have loved this.  They don't take tests, but when asked about history they know so much.  I love history though and read and study it, so that may help in knowing what to study.

I like the samples for this. We are in Canada and haven't covered a ton of US history at this point, so this might be a great way to do a bit of it all....

One really nice feature is the option to order as a download; you would eliminate shipping costs to Canada. (That wouldn't apply to the board game, which is a bummer, but the games each year are optional anyway). The audio presentations and all age levels of Student Explorer pages are included and are downloads anyway.

I am debating the PDF option...do you find that you use the course book often?  I could deal with it on PDF if I wasn't using it all the time. I'd probably want to print and bind the book of stories though...
