8th grade outsourced Science class?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I spend most of my time on the high school boards as my eldest is finishing up 9th grade. So we've been big into high school planning. I don't worry much about my elementary & middle school-aged kids and curriculum, as I see what worked for their older sibling. But... he was able to be thrown into a super rigorous, nearly all outsourced set of curriculum 9th grade after always having been homeschooled, without grades, in a more easy, breezy style K-8 (with the exception of Geom in 8th grade). My next in line won't be able to handle that. So... she is taking Alg I outsourced in 8th grade to get her feet wet. But I think a second not-too-rigorous intro to high school outsourced course would do her a world of good - I'm thinking science. As I'm notorious neglectful on the sciences.

Any good options out there? Outsourced? Any is fine - as she'll take the usual Bio, Physics, Chemistry in high school - and so anything to prepare her for those, to get her feet wet with deadlines, tests and the like...

Thoughts? Ideas?

BJU distance learning online courses for middle school are excellent and very rigorous.  These have taught my kids how to take notes from a textbook and how to study detail-oriented subject matter.  They are not live, but if you implement the course schedule as written including quizzes and tests, they would function like a school course.
