hmrt
For those of you who have used the Classical Catholic Memory program, how is the music to their memory songs? I'm a professional classical musician, and it really drives me crazy to listen to bad electronic synthesizer-filled pseudo-pop kids songs:) Since they don't have any samples, I was hoping someone can provide an opinion so I'd have a clue before I bought it. I love the look of their program, so I really hope it will be something I'd enjoy using. I really hate the Classical Conversations updated music "Timeline, This is my timeline...." song, and I was hoping their music may be better. I can handle simple, and I don't expect a grand production, but didn't want to waste my money on audio I can't stand to hear in the car like I did on Classical Conversations CD's. I'm looking for songs that are not modern/pop in style. For a Classical Education program, I'd hope they'd choose some more traditional music that is easy to remember (which isn't the case with CC, in my humble opinion). Thanks in advance for helping this old-fashioned curmudgeon!
Syllieann
The songs are a mix of children's classics, hymns, patriotic songs, and classical music. There is nothing I would call modern/pop. For example, "Greensleeves," "America the Beautiful," and "Pop Goes the Weasel" are a few from beta year. A few from gamma include "Holy, Holy, Holy," "Here we go looby loo," and "You're a Grand Old Flag." I like the music selections. Almost all have been familiar to me so far. I've been happy with the quality of the music too, but I'm definitely not a music person, so hopefully someone else can speak to the aspect of sound quality.
happyhappyjoyjoy
I think you'd be happy with them. I don't like a lot of children's albums. For example the only Wee Sing albums I can take are Fun 'n Folk and America. I think the CCM songs are well done.
Mom2ECR
It seems like you would be happy with the CCM audio. It's just a female voice speaking & singing. If you e-mail the company, they will send you a sample of the audio. For my kids, I find the Catholic Schoolhouse samples a bit more engaging & memorable, though it does have the pop/ synthesized music. I am trying to decide between the two, but as of right now, I am leaning towards CSH primarily because the songs seem like they will be more memorable.
